Yup, I'd take the Challenger SRT Hellcat please, in RHD, every time, don't really care what colour!

What makes either the Charger or Challenger in any of the high output forms so good as an ownership prop is the fact that they are pretty cheap new, and cost very little to run (petrol excluded). You can use a Charger/Challenger as a daily car for school run, work etc, put lots of miles on it and it will need just one basic service a year. They have more character than most cars and will run forever. Residuals are also very high in US for high output models. Ten years from now they will be still running and have 100% parts availability. Most of the other rival performance cars are full of electronics will be junk by then. I would way pefer one of these than an M5 at the same cost let alone half the price if buying with my own money.

I know this sounds a bit silly, but ~800hp for 203 MPH doesn't seem all that impressive.

A de-limited E50 M5 with 300 less BHP could do 205 MPH.

Does the Charger have much longer gearing? Or will the engine do more than 60k before it spins a bearing?
I agree.

PLENTY of BMW's and AUDI's, and probably MERCEDES could beat both the top speed, and quarter mile times, if they were delimited, and with 200 BHP less, so I don't see it as that impressive at all really, considering the BHP output.
It will be a cheap rattly interior, too.
Fitting drag radials LOL I bet they go round corners really well then NOT.
I guess, if you want a cheap, rattly, brick with a huge engine, which goes almost as fast as a handful of German machinary (but only in a straight line), and looks hideous then this is the exact car you need.
I'll stick with my refined, German machine, thanks.

These cars are silly and fun, and probably won't be around for much longer, so let's enjoy them while we can

I drive a Charger on a daily basis for work and I can tell you it is not cheap or rattly. I use it in all weather conditions and it is very reliable, comfortable, and handles well.

It's what I like about they US, they haven't bought into this false pretence that Audi or Merc are prestige brands nor would they really care anyway. Shouldn't we jus be glad that they still make these cars, or are we eagerly awaiting the EV revolution so we can complain about them too? A side note, bet they're miles cheaper than any M5 or Bentley.

You lot who call for an orange Challenger have my vote.

But I'd take any of their mental colours. Why go incognito when you can go over the top? biggrin

Just a small sample...

I can't help but think that those of you who go on about Teutonic efficiency, brittle plastics and all that other important stuff may just be missing the romance of blue collar America as portrayed by Springsteen

Well now I'm no hero
That's understood
All the redemption I can offer girl
Is beneath this dirty hood

With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair?
Well the night's busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere

We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back
Heaven's waiting down on the tracks

Oh-oh come take my hand
We're riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh-oh-oh-oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road

Lying out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run
Oh-oh-oh-oh Thunder Road, sit tight, take hold
Thunder Road

Well I got this guitar
And I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back
If you're ready to take that long walk

From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride ain't free
And I know you're lonely
For words that I ain't spoken
Tonight we'll be free
All the promises'll be broken

There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets

They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
When you get to the porch they're gone
On the wind

So Mary climb in
It's a town full of losers
I'm pulling out of here to win

10.5 seconds! biggrin

Easy to laugh at the Yankees, but that’s running with Huracans and 488s down the strip, good luck beating it reliably in anything standard cheaper than a 720S.

Edit: new 992 Turbo S might be in with a good shout at the low 10s too.

Classic, refers to any American car as ‘cheap’ and ‘rattly’.

I’m a big BMW fan and I had a 4 series which let me down a few ways in the ‘cheap’ department.

I haven’t driven a charger nor have I lived with one but I highly doubt it is rattly or superior to the equivalent German saloon. Cars today are all very good and the only way you can truly test a cars ‘cheapness’ is with time, 10-15 years and by then, most buyers don’t care, I know I wouldn’t.

Even still, in my various E46 BMW’s and my brothers E39, some trim was missing, some plastics were rattling and leather was ripped. Very good cars though and I never judge them on that as they were all 15+ years old. My 4 series on the other hand was only 4 years old and the leather on the arm rest had looked like it had melted. Your M140i will have the same Dakota leather.

11 minutes is about 40 miles at top speed. A bit range restricted. Not sure how that works out to MPG or litres per 100 km.

Was at dinner at a friend’s last night. He has a highly modified RX7 he uses on track days. 70 litres per 100 km. Must be similarly as bad.
