Probably the same in the S. I guess its just how much it annoys you. I find it a minor issue very occasionally.
I drove the a45 amg before buying the S. Now there is a car that really doesn't want to drop down when in normal drive mode, especially moving away from junctions. Cracking car though , was just a bit too racy for everyday for me
Yes I agree. For me it wasn't terrible, just the worst point on a great car and I know other manufacturers have done a better job with that gearbox. I could live with it and wish I still was.I drove the a45 amg before buying the S. I had several of these (340's and 380's ) as company cars and still maintain they were one of the best all-round cars I've 'owned'.
Comfy and refined for longer journeys even on the gorgeous 20" alloys (particularly with the no-cost-option alcantara style seats ilo leather). Interior not amazing to look at but no squeaks or rattles and superb driving position/adjustability.
Very lively handling (particularly in the wet) but predictable with lovely steering - they make a nice sound too, but could be a little louder for my taste.
Gearbox was great but then I did use the paddles ALL the time, quick changes were not far off a DSG for speed (but with better reliability from the 8speed ZF box)

I've got an XE now, sadly only a 200PS version, but its absolutely superb. I was sad when i found out the V6 was being discontinued, but it was out of my price as a new car anyway. The V6 sounded lovely in the FType I test drove though!
When my XE comes to the end of its lease, I'll have a look around for a late V6, it could well be the last ICE car I have...
But to counter the post above, yes the early cars had their niggles, just like the majority of new models from any manufacturer, but my 68 plate hasn't skipped a beat since I picked it up new. Very comfy and handles superbly.

Anyone know if the infotainment in the latest car is using the same bus and cable connectors? Just wait for a crashed one to come up and transplant the interior and infotainment as desired and you get the best of all worlds!
You can't just swap them over, its a different loom. You'd be better off selling any buying one with the Pro system.I've owned my 380 for about 18 months now. I really cannot fault it! It's smooth to drive in all conditions and handles beautifully for a rwd. My commute to work is 50 miles of pretty much all motorway so I get a return of about 40mpg, but when you are really heavy footed, normally see anything from about 14mpg!
I have had a company car spec diesel r sport for the last year or so and I have got to say although it has some serious design faults and some poor quality trim, it gets under your skin far more than a 3 series or a4. Having said it I will probably replace it with a Tesla model 3 so maybe i just like poor build quality!
