When these go sub £30k I could well see me having one of these.

I suspect that when residuals and a full Audi history are important, you would get Audi to do the work. Although, arguably, once the turbos blow you have destroyed value anyway as buyers may think of it as a harbinger of greater issues?
But as these get cheaper, and out of warranty, I'd think that you would take the opportunity to do some upgrading!

Residuals have got to a point where the car goes to a good independent and many people have solutions to the problems these cars have developed over the years. Like any car really.
But to say £8k for turbos changing as a blanket statement as to how expensive things are on this car is misleading at best.

Is it possible to negotiate a two year AUC warranty from Audi for one of these?
I got a 2 year warranty on my E63 M6 V10 (and boy did I need it!) and to be honest - from past experience with high performance cars - I'd only ever buy a car like this from the main dealer purely for peace of mind.

How much did the warranty cost?I got a 2 year warranty on my E63 M6 V10 (and boy did I need it!) and to be honest - from past experience with high performance cars - I'd only ever buy a car like this from the main dealer purely for peace of mind.
I'm interested in getting an E60/E63 M5/6 to tool around in and keep the miles off the Maserati, but know they come wrought with issues and would rather not have to shell out thousands on the well known issues of the S85 engine.

I consiered one of these instead of the CLS63 Shooting Brake I ended up with. The Audi at the time was 50% more expensive second hand (I paid less than £30k for the 50,000 mile 2013 Merc).
The Audi is better looking, had a way, way better gearbox, and 4wd, and better boot space.
But the Merc had a far nicer interior, better ride, better steering and the thing that really swung it for me - makes a far better sound. When you spend most of your life pottering, ride quality and V8 burble matter!
The Merc was also a great deal cheaper to insure here in S.London.
If they were the same price though, I probably would have taken the RS6. Just more desirable and (I think) a future classic.
I'd also argue you can sleep a bit better with the Merc knowing the tradition of RS6's throwing up ginormous bills. The Audi is better looking, had a way, way better gearbox, and 4wd, and better boot space.

Awesome thing, though.

At the time I bought mine (Oct 2019) all approved RS6's came with a two year warranty from Audi, this wasn't common knowledge, the dealer told me about it but I know other folks at the time who bought one and didn't get the extra year's warranty included in writing.I got a 2 year warranty on my E63 M6 V10 (and boy did I need it!) and to be honest - from past experience with high performance cars - I'd only ever buy a car like this from the main dealer purely for peace of mind.
