True. But that was aimed at Mr 650Spider who made a daft and massively presumptuous comment that somehow I (or others I assume) needs to work harder so one day they can hopefully afford a McLaren just like him.
What he doesn't realise is that his car is worth about the same as 2 packets of crisps. And plenty of people can afford to buy "expensive" cars but choose not to for a variety of reasons.
Let's just say I am more than happy with what I have and my income levels thank you very much. And I have zero aspiration to buy McL even if I won a lottery jackpot..
Then why no higher-end cars in your history? What he doesn't realise is that his car is worth about the same as 2 packets of crisps. And plenty of people can afford to buy "expensive" cars but choose not to for a variety of reasons.

I don’t really understand why people with the means to have some pretty special cars, and who are on a car enthusiast’s site then choose not to have them.

The Ferrari and Lamborghini threads don't turn into st shows. Dunno about the Porsche ones. But McLaren? Nearly every thread turns to st. Some of the owners need to ask themselves why?
I don’t think that it’s the owners who need to be asking themselves anything, there seem to be some posters who have a bee in their bonnet about the brand and are trying their best to piss others off.Kent Border Kenny said:

This. Very very few owners will be unnecessarily negative towards the brand. But there are many owners who do admit the faults and seem pretty unbiased from my opinion. Yet many members who own other brands always seem to feel ibliged to nit pick and slate the brand. It’s very Sad.Even with there flaws, So called car fanatics of the country should get behind the countries only real Supercar manufacturer.
I know I’m increasing an old crusty but I still reckon a super car should be instantly recognisable as a unique shape. The Daytona is an example...it can’t be mistaken for anything else. The 250GTO another. Bugatti managed it with the Veyron. The F1 hits the target, but since then McLaren’s range seems to have got increasing confused. My wife came close to buying one a few years back and we can’t now even remember what the model number was.

As someone who has toyed with the idea of a (secondhand) McLaren I think the problem can be summed up as - the cars are great, the ownership experience isn't. There are too many anecdotes and youtube videos by people whose opinion I respect to suggest the nay sayers are just people trying to diss the car. Camelot1971 said:

If all you are going to contribute to this thread is the same FALSE opinion, then maybe it would be better that you contributed nothing. Once again, if you cannot tell the difference between a 570, a 720 and a Senna, then kindly get your eyes tested as you may be suffering from cataracts or glaucoma. There was a 570S in our garage at Silverstone earlier this month and the owner let me have a nosey. I didn't drive it, but it had the feel of a modern, grown-up Elise to me. He said it was basically exactly like that (he also had a Lotus).
I didn't see how it performed because sadly he managed to get a screw in his new rear tyre on the sighting lap.

Many of these things are too brash and shouty for some. Baldchap said:

That was my first impression when I drove a 570 Spider ... big lotus Elise. I didn't see how it performed because sadly he managed to get a screw in his new rear tyre on the sighting lap.
Many of the McL development team came from Lotus ... this Thorney Motorsport video is well worth watching:

Shame everyone is so salty, its like Mclaren bullied them as a child.
I think McLaren should invite all these dimwits to a trackday so they can actually drive the cars rather than form their opinion from some sweaty YouTuber. I was lucky enough to drive a 570S last year and it blew me away! It was a corporate day so I drove a few rivals (R8, Huracan etc) back-to-back...the McLaren is the only one I was impressed by.

In before the naysayers - I really like the look of this car!
But one question - where does the 'hood scoop' send air to? I can't see how it would feed the engine?
The roof scoop feeds into channels which can be seen inside the cabin, and then into the air intakes of the engine. But one question - where does the 'hood scoop' send air to? I can't see how it would feed the engine?

Why is easy, and I’m not even an owner. ...From years of watching these threads, it’s entirely obviously mostly non-owners winding up owners by repeatedly posting falsehoods, BS anecdotes and stupid information.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
