Welcome! It sounds like our 911 or Cayman forums might be of use to you if you're undecided and looking for advice.

Thank you Ben, I add cars very carefully and I have never sold a car, that time may come but how would I ever decide. I am a true collector in that sense. I actually hold a Guinness World Record for collecting, I have the largest Rolling Stones collection in the world, I have over 200,000 items. I wrote the only independent book on the band to receive a handwritten dedication from all members including Charlie shortly before he passed.

Last week, there was temporary traffic lights, I joined queue, the traffic in either direction didn’t appear to be moving. So I wondered if lights stuck on red. (This had been case week before on different road) so I pulled out to look, the lights were still red, the van next to me moved so I could pull back in behind him,I didn’t go past lights, I didn’t hit anything, and the cars coming towards me, weren’t held up by more than few seconds
What worries me is there is council cctv on opposite road. Did I do something illegal?

Welcome to PH. If you didn’t go past a red light then you did nothing wrong. Don’t worry about it.

Hi everyone wavey

I've just signed up, but struggling to post a new thread in General Gassing.

Whether I click Submit or Preview, I always get a pop up saying "Validation failed. Please refresh the page and try again."

Refreshing does nothing. I've verified my email account.

Hi everyone, new to piston heads to be honest new to taking cars a bit more than just a way to get from A to B. Netflix Drive to Survive led me and the other half to getting into motor racing then visiting our local track (Oulton Park) to watch racing, which then led to us preferring the up close and personal of 'lower league' racing and somehow accidentally deciding to by a 20 yr old Caterham. With the mechanical knowledge of a lettuce I suspect PH is going to be a place I keep dipping into for questions which are in reality bleeding obvious. Anyway ... thanks to the 'internet team at PH for running this and I will dip and out etc. TG

Hi, I’m new here. I have recently acquired a 2013 Vauxhall Insignia estate car. It’s the newest car I’ve ever owned and I love it. Drives lovely and is perfect for the family. We bought it from auction and it appears to have been very well looked after. 9 Vauxhall service stamps and was used as the show car so has all the extra gadgets. When we got it home there was no evidence of cambelt so we’ve had that done along with a service and mot which it passed but need two arms on the rear. Sorry I don’t have much car knowledge.

I have an issue though - after a short distance of travel I noticed lots of squeaking/squealing I think coming from one or multiple wheels (this was here before MOT). I’m assuming it’s brake related. Everyone keeps telling me it’s a dry spot on the brakes and not to worry. They’ve advised to take it somewhere safe and do some hard braking to clear it. It’s incredibly irritating not to mention embarrassing driving along with the racket. Today I noticed my rear passenger wheel felt a lot hotter than the others after a short trip out. I don’t want to look like a paranoid idiot, spend money that I don’t need to and just basically go against what everyone has told me by having the brake pads replaced. The fact that it’s just passed an MOT would suggest the pads and discs are ok. Any advice?

Welcome to PH, sounds like a decent buy! It sounds like you might have a binding rear caliper, I wouldn't rush to replace all the pads and would take it to a garage to get it inspected first and see what they recommend doing. If it is binding, you'll likely need a new rear caliper and possible pads and discs as well. Annoying to have a lot of up front expense after just buying a car, but worth the investment!

Thank you so much for the reply. Being a novice car owner it’s nice to hear that I’m not going mad and my suspicion maybe be correct that something is sticking. I will get it into a garage and try to sound like I know what I’m talking about haha. Yea you’re right it’s annoying having to spend out again following the initial investment Especially after selling my old car a 20 yr old volkwswagon which was an absolute beast and actually never let me down but needed some real money spent on it to bring her upto scratch. Hopefully this will be an easy fix and worth the extra pounds.

Hi,

I am all new to the forum - but looking forward to get to know a lot of you petrolheads!

Currently looking for a TVR; T350 or Tuscan - and would like to hear your ideas as to which to prefer. I know the TVR's cars have their flaws, but I guess the issues would part of the game...

Welcome to PH! It might be worth having a dig around in our T350 and Tuscan forums, or asking for some advice in our General TVR forum here. And of course once you've made your mind up, you can browse our classifieds to find one herethumbup

I am new and am having curious issue. I just tried to start a new topic. However when I choose the Porsche forum the start a new topic button is unavailable. Are there additional privileges to post a new topic outside of general gassing (that is where my topic appeared even though it is a Porsche specific question)

It sounds like you're selecting our Porsche parent group here, which you're unable to post in as this shows all of the posts across all of our Porsche forums. You'll need to select one of the specific Porsche forums to post in, such as Porsche General. Hope that helps!
