I know everyone here loves a Merc, so here's one which says P.O.R......so theoretically it could be in thread budget:
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/mercedes-benz...
Without looking at the ad I'm going to guess that's €1.5m. https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/mercedes-benz...
It probably isn't, though
One of my dream cars.

I think if I suddenly found that my 10 million euro drawer was full in the morning as a consequence of a visit by an ethereal sort of chap in a lamp, I would struggle (like, really struggle) not to buy this. It's so very consciously elitist that I find it hard to resist.
Sure, there are prettier cars, but I can't think of anything that gives two fingers to everyone else - literally everyone - with such aplomb. It's a car that makes you feel like Stalin and Pol Pot rolled into one, but in a good way.

Talking of stabby redheads, isn't it Redhead Monday? MUST not call her by her, erm, other name.

You do have a wonderful way with words, may I just say. Yep I had a good chuckle at that too. A gifted prose poster indeed.tog said:
Did they do these in owner/driver spec, with no division?

My god, that's an absolute cracker. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010185...
As with so many cars posted, it also seems pricey doesn't it, grown-up engine notwithstanding?

There’s a ‘trying it on’ elemental about the price though.

I had a v60 d5 hire car for a few months with their all singing and dancing version of radar cruise and it was awesome.
Wakefield to Chertsey and I must have pressed the brake pedal maybe twice the whole way on one occasion. Other than that I was either following cars going the same way or it was riding the cruise at 95
As a test I even used it to drive in to the town centre one Saturday morning, and as I never hit a red light at the 'front' of the queue, again I never touched the brakes until I got to the car park. Truly awesome.
Only thing I learnt very quickly was to turn the distance tracker thing to minimum. As you go faster it 'sees' farther forward and at 95mph on the tighter left hand sweep M40 near Souldern it decided the central reservation was a stationary object and slammed all on.
The guy following (at appropriately illegal speed) must have had a heart attack. Bloody good job he was switched on or...bump!
I don't know why, but it always felt a little weird - even in the Merc pressing resume - for the car to leap forward from 50 to 95, after white Vanman gets out the way. A bit like 'hang on laddy, we're on one!'
I had a hire car Kia Niro hybrid last week, it had the active cruise too.....is there a way, in general, of turning it off?Wakefield to Chertsey and I must have pressed the brake pedal maybe twice the whole way on one occasion. The main issue with the Kia is that it was pretty gutless at over 60mph. To safely accelerate into the "fast" lane on the M1 required some planning....and if traffic slowed to 60ish in your lane and you were going up hill, it pretty much refused to accelerate, without you overriding it.
As a town car, with the hybrid, it works quite well. The computer says that driven sensibly it was getting mid 40s mpg, pretty much everywhere. I really didn't like it on the motorway though, apart from seeing how long it would "self-drive" itself, using the lane guidance thing.
I think overall the car was quite disappointed in me. It was constantly beeping and bonging at me and my bad habits

But for only £650 more you can have an E55....

That's not a great advert, and has been posted before. But compared to the E500, actually doesn't seem crazily priced. Cheaper road tax too

The penny has just dropped that DD classics who are selling that Mercedes (and have TWO R129 SL60 AMGs) are a 3 minute walk from my office. They have some very nice stock!
Do you work for Sky? I do and, before lockdown, used to go down at lunchtime. They're always happy to let me in for a look around. Very decent people who love the chat about cars. Sometimes a girl in her twenties working there who doesn't know as much. But there's a man in his 50s with a London accent who can switch topics between the 500E, Citroen DS Décapotable, Fiat 500 Jolly, Maybach and tell you facts about all of them. Plenty interesting out the front as well, even if you don't go in. If you do work at Sky, along with the other 7,000 of us, there's a set of steps right at the Harlequin Avenue entrance to take you down.
There's also Frank Dale Rolls Royce just above it. Plenty interesting there, although I've never spoken to them. They're more servicing and repairs than sales, so it's more of a busy environment.
You are correct Ben. My 140 has chrome the entire length of the door shut. Speaking of which, I have just dropped it off at the garage. They haven't sourced any springs or dampers yet so it may come down to me.
And the E39 is booked in for coolant loss which I cannot find. Current status: bargeless.
