Strange question Mike but how do you know what used cats are worth? Just ebay or does your breaking of old mercs mean you have better outlets?
The breaking leaves me with quite a number of them. The learning curve went like this:

First few months of breaking I left them on the car and let scrap men come and take what was left of the cars for free. (They loved me and were always very prompt lol) I had no idea they were worth anything.

Next stage saw a story about gangs nicking them off cars. Guessed they must have been valuable so removed them and sold them to my local scrap yard. They took ages to get me a price on them so guessed they were selling them on.

The final stage was discovering where the local yards were selling them to, a refiners in Birmingham. That’s where I am now. Don’t think I can go any higher up the chain unless I start refining them :-)

Interesting!
Suburban? Navigator?

The other possibilities include some absolute delights, and some absolute horrors. If we're talking within thread, it's about 1:10 delight:horror ratio.
Exciting stuff, I'd say there's another ratio to be considered, the Huggy Bear:Florida pensioner ratio... For most American tat I'd put that at about 1:5.

Maybe you should start buying knackered old Hondas? Every week there are a loads of stories on local social media of them having their Cats stolen while parked up in town. One I heard has been done three times. Seems the Honda Jazz has the most expensive but easiest to access Cat and usually it is a poor old person that is fked over by the tts who think they are entitled to take whatever they want.

I am assuming my old Honda Accord doesn't have a valuable cat, or it is hard to get to, as it hasn't been targeted - I need to find out.

I'd never considered that TW124 might not be genuine simply because it would mean someone was lying to impress the barge thread, which is unthinkably depressing. Also if you want to do a wind-up, then surely pretending to be Ross' stabby redhead whose found out what he's been saying about a client would be much more fun.

As a believer I should definitely get a shot in the Gullwing.

Oh, and in other news, forecourt photo incoming!

Clue - it isn't a Mercedes, but it does have a Mercedes engine.

The car behind is my daily driver Lambo which I only just remembered that I own - it used to belong to my great, great, great grandfather. He won it in a raffle at a fair during his time in the Belgium trenches in 1916 - second prize was a goldfish.

I have been away for the past week, so have been periodically catching up on this thread throughout the day....it’s been a rollercoaster, that is all I can say.

Might go on babestation later, purely for research.
If you go to their website, there's a search function. I've already posted her "stage" name - Scarlett - A few come up but you know the hair colour hehe

Certainly I'd still be following-up about a cheap-but-interesting car I wanted to buy.

Well I have his full name and his two email addresses - my only worry small worry is making it back from Wigan alive.

If someone is willing to make this st up, what else are they lying about?

I’m more of a lurker than a poster these days but I agree. I hope it’s all true. I always treat this forum as a good place where I post things in good faith. And I had assumed that everybody else did the same. Maybe I’m too naive but I’ll continue to believe in what people say until proven wrong. Maybe we should insist on more custard testing?!

In thread news, I’ve had my MG Midget for sale for a few weeks now and only limited interest so I might wait until spring now. And the W124 heater fan still isn’t fixed and starting to be more of an issue in this weather so I think I’m going to bite the bullet and pay to have it done.

Sorry to say we won’t make it to Duxford this time - happy memories from our last meet there a few years ago... enjoy. And post pics please. Especially if anybody turns up in a Merc SLR or similar...!

What's up with it? If it is a case of no heat, the problem is usually a stuck duo valve. Some have had luck bashing the top of the valve with a tap hammer while an assistant adjusts the temperature wheels up and down but I have found it necessary to dismantle the valve (not difficult) and clean it up with fine steel wool.

You're very wise to be fearful of a trip to Wigan, but I don't think this is the reason.

Wasn't it already outside your house?

How did you come to view a car for sale inside your own house?

(silly mood. I blame Friday)

My heater fan stopped working in the 320 and it turned out to be a loose wire, fixed for an hour's labour.
