If any of you have managed to secure the lease on that lap dancing club in Skeggy, you'll be needing this. Cat C, no history, rough as badgers a**e and 3 bags...

Thanks for posting the meet up pics. I'm coveting all the lovely cars.
That museum looks amazing too. Don't laugh at my ignorance but was that where Top Gear used to be filmed at?
Good to see the cars getting a proper run out and the memories you all have.

Failing that PsYcHoSiS which I assume was a name that looked good in 1988 but is a chap known on here has a nice looking X300 3.2 Exec for sale at half thread.

Just back now (I went to Chelmsford for dinner with Sister & co afterward, then trundled back). Total mileage for the day just short of 460. I chickened out on the fuel bingo game and filled up at Bradford rather than try to make the last 26 miles on 20 miles of fuel... By the time I got to the Shell at the top of the M606, it was 13 remaining, and an 86l fill-up was duly procured - 23ish mpg. (or £111.60 in real money @129.9 for the good stuff!)

Highlight of the day most definitely the century, a wonderful thing - and while BigBen’s DB9 wins the flyby aural award, the century wins decisively on the starter whirr & into tickover. Speaking of which, Mr 21C, we have a gold(ish) prize waiting for you! wink. Your life is now complete, I know.

Good to meet & re-meet everyone, especially Alec E (we’d talked a few times before, but never met), it’s fair to say that the CL is a bit of a monster. I expected it to be quick (and it really, really is - the shove over 60 - to as much as you dare! - is damned impressive.

I also learned (thanks STG) that I still don’t fit in a boxster, this remains a disappointment.

Too many other notable things to mention - lots of good, quality chat - today was a good day.

PS - sb123 & World Boss - when you went out, was the i-drive screen flickering? It was fine all the way to Duxford, but setting off for Chelmsford, it was like watching an old analogue tv... It seems to have sorted itself again now, but I’ll probably have to take it out, pull it to bits & dry it over the radiator again like I did 2y ago. I think it’s a lack of use thing...

The chick-clunk on the door of the G wagon explains entirely why r129 cannot move it on. So impressive.

Lads, the meet looked to have been excellent. Well played all.

I have feelings akin to not making a stag-do and then trying to enjoy it vicariously through pictures and boorish chat amongst mates. Or something.

The Century seems to have rather stolen the show and I think we can all be content with that!

The display aircraft are utterly amazing but the opportunity to take a joy ride in some of the planes is unbeatable and was quite unexpected. For the two of us the cost was "only" £81 and we got a good 20 minutes flying (which was quite enough for me, thank you very much).
It's incredible that you can literally fly in some of Duxford's exhibits.

I think you got a bargain on the day. Annoyed I didn't take it up. Sounded fantastic from outside. https://www.classic-wings.co.uk/dragon-rapide-flig...

We had a spiffing run back. We were held up on the A14 by some slow moving, lumbering Japanese jalopy...
hehe

We too had a smashing day out, and it was good to put some names to faces and see some barges. Again, the highlight for me was the Century, a car I’ve wanted to own for a long time but haven’t yet had the stones to do so. There was even some spousal approval, on the one condition we wouldn’t go to parents evening in it.

Duxford was a terrific venue, and the near six hour round trip was worth every minute: the crumby, unkept Lexus (radar) cruised home in silence with Minions premiering in the rear lounge at a 70mph/26mpg average. I can attest a well known and particulars stealthy G-wagon looks a menacing sight at a pretty decent lick, both from front and rear.

Guys, you're making me blush! I didn't see the G Wagen on the A14, how did I miss that?

I didn't see the Century, either. I think that once you'd remembered to lift the anchor, you must have streaked away in silence. How many Centuries are there in the UK? Does anyone have an idea? For those of us who want one: https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-toyota-century...

The G-wagen does seem to possess überholprestige in spades and it was running well last night. We hit a new record on the way home: 120.

It's the povvo spec (and relatively sensible price) that makes it so great. Everyone would save a fancy 540 with glitzy bits, few bother with a cooking spec one.

I discovered yesterday that after they checked the oil level in my car in assessing it for part ex, they didn't bother pushing the dipstick in all the way. Discovered in the sense of the cabin filling with burning oil smell.
Still like LEEPOOO though, decent price.
