Lovely old bus, but to my eyes, its not worth much more than a grand...
Nb. Just adding, that in conjunction with my technique of rounding down to the nearest big figure mentioned in a previous volvo related post, I also have a rule that no old 'non classic' volvo is worth more than a grand, regardless what they are in actuality selling for!!....
I'm surprised how quickly the '80s ones have gone from a state where you could buy a ratty one for £700 and a mint, old-money "family owned from new" example for £1400 to a point where the latter will barely get you a crash-damaged wreck that's sat mouldering away in a leaky garage for the past few years.Nb. I'm not generally a fan of people carriers, but I've always approved of the R Class - Mercedes Benz seemed to realise that people with big families shouldn't have to put up with nasty plastics and pathetically small engines, or go for an SUV.
It was a nice idea, but little did they realise that an SUV was exactly what they had to start hawking to folk.Shame the industry has started to follow consumer taste instead of the industry being innovative and setting the trends customers follow.
This is all of the money for a car which according to the url has been for sale for a year, but I like the idea of a V50 2.5 T5.

V50 is a lovely thing though, I'd get shut of those fussy wheels and something with a bit more sidewall, enjoy that 5-pot soundtrack.
That's a great engine and I really like the V50/S40/C30/C70 cars, the T5 badge is a bit misleading because the engine is a pretty tame low pressure turbo job, and is a lot more sensible day to day than the "wake me up when you hit 3000 RPM" proper T5 engines in the big cars.
The D5 is superb in these too, particularly with a manual gearbox.
None the less, anyone paying £5500 for a 2007 V50 with 95k on the clock needs a hard kick in the pods.

That 210 is getting a hard time. It’s 2k, looks decent to me. I’ve owned mine now for 6 years it’s clean underneath. Few bits need doing body wise but it’s a 22 year old car. I spent more on my w124 bodywork. They’re not all a disaster.
I'd ring and ask for the reg number Krikkit said:

ENOTABARGE, but I've a lot of time for the C1/P1 based Volvos. They did a great job of taking the Focus platform and making it feel "grown up" without robbing too much of the handling balance or the chuckable nature in the process, especially in 5 cylinder form. Admittedly, I have some bias - here's my old car, pictured after driving from London to Tipperary without the slightest fuss:
The T5 always felt a little bit like they'd expected to top out the range at a 2.0 four, not having it arrive in shouty orange paint with stick-on black plastic bits on every available surface made the idea of a car you can wheelspin all the way through first gear rather incongruous. Very relaxing to drive something so over-engined for its class though, changing gear was an optional activity and I regularly clocked up 5hr+ drives in it without a problem. AS mentioned it doesn't really feel turbocharged, you have to lug it at stupidly low revs in 4th to start noticing lag and it's more obvious in the way it gets a bit breathless above 5500RPM. (While closing the shop early in response to an enquiry about the redline is a common Volvo trait, their 20V five cylinders were unusually rev-happy in naturally aspirated form)
Nice inside for a small car if it has all the extras, although well-optioned ones are rare and it's not totally unusual to see a T5 with the rather ugly "no steering wheel controls for you" blanking plates of a lowly S model.
However I am thinking given what I sold it for either that V50 owner is very optimistic (even with the estate premium), or I needed to invest in a white background, a nearby puddle to photograph in and the odd mention of a pyroclastic cloud.

Sits smugly in the knowledge that his T5 C70 purchased at height of lockdown just before prices went batst was indeed something of a bargain
Still jealous man!! I do like the mk1 shape better but know the mk2 is a better car altogether...I'd love a d5 engined one!Triumph Man said:

I've always been a big fan of these and the only reason we didn't take the plunge a few years ago was their towing ability. Not very good when you consider the size of the thing!Oh and I was a little out off by their supposed reliability woes.

Which means I've had it in my AT faves for over 13 months now...
In coming Top Werthers. Not sure what is going on with the bidding here, but smoke silver over mushroom late w140 S500 with the standard wheelbase and 18" wheels, what's not to like? Oh yeah, the S600 bling-grille and those chrome rings round the instruments. But that's all. And the shifter surround. And the shifter lever. But even so...
That Peugeot 204 is magnificent. While we're on the topic, what is the correct pronunciation of Peugeot? Pewjo or Perjo?

A newer S class for not much more than above (smaller engine but half the mileage):

Good luck! As someone who often runs old Jaguars I consider radiators and coolant hoses to be consumables on a 10 year / 100k mile change interval; the consequences of failure are dreadful (particulary if it's a radiator with integrated ATF cooler) and the cost to mitigate fairly modest so I'm sure you're making the right decision.
