Suspiciously cheap.

And in a world where there's an LWB one of those, that's what I'd want in preference to the SWB.

I'd give it a look if I was in the market - sounds like it needs a bit of TLC, but it's certainly cheap enough compared to a minty one.

Pair of rear shocks, ABS sensor and pull the fuse for the sunroof and leave it as-is, enjoy it for what, 3 bags?

Heart would always say XJR. However I’m desperately uncool anyway and no car is ever going to change that, so I’ll stick with the LS460.

(can I have the Jag for trips to the pub please?)

I like this thinking.

I think the 460 because the most interesting, and I could pretend it was an SC430
But it would be this for me:

XJR for sure. All of them would be more desirable if they weren't silver though.

Looks abit like it's at a scrap yard.

The choice above is pretty hard, W221, but it's a 500 with a 600 plate on, so maybe the C120 or LS460.

Not 100% but I saw someone posting on a BMW topic on Instagram in the past couple of weeks with a ‘handle’ starting with ‘derin’. Could be coincidence
ETA - pretty sure they posted a link to the bmwclassics website which he owns, so maybe not a coincidence

Never seen that website before - some very nice cars that's for certain.

XJR, please and thank you. It's the only cool one, IMO.
Green X308R on the original "penta" wheels for me please, or an X300R on those wheels.
Yup.

I'll take my XJR in dark red, green, or blue. Not too fussy. But not silver or black.

And if those wheels will still fit an X308 (I reckon they would?) then that's what I'd have on either model please.

Impersonating the landlord is taken very seriously in some establishments.

They do indeed fit, with shorter bolts. 17" also, so nicer ride.
Apologises for the colour smile

So you can do the "Err, terribly sorry chaps but I seem to have left my wallet in my other jacket.....do you mind getting this round in?" whilst chatting up the buxom barmaid?

Random pointless game... judge

If you could be gifted one of the cars below, which one would you pick and why?

(The rule being that you'd be given the car but it would have to be your daily driver for at least a year)

S500

LS460

XJR

W140 S500

740
Considering I occasionally need to fit my bike and a load of luggage in my car it'd be between the S500 W221 or the LS460. If I had to pay for the repair bills with associated risks I'd take the LS460, if not, the probably the S500.

Styling....XJR no question, but they are like a reverse tardis unfortunately.

I might be cos they is all Silver init, but I am struggling to want any of them. Strange that, as three out of my current four vehicle fleet are shades of Silver - boring but saves on having to wash them too often.

Sorry to be fussy, but I really want an older Merc. If I had to choose it would probably be the S500 or the 740, but not with a beige interior - SIlver and beige - urgh.

Tiny and cramped inside, the older ones even more so (series I, II, III), more room in a Mini and an 1100 is huge inside by comparison.

Who's paying for the maintenance?

Says the guy heading to collect his 124 which, some time in the next few months, will need a gearbox rebuild.

Oh dear, commiserations, what's the gearbox doing? I've always fancied trying to rebuild an autobox, manuals are a doddle.
