I can well believe Renault are in trouble. Clios used to be ubiquitous but they seem to be being replaced by Hyundais and Kias, A1s or mini-SUVs.
And by Dacia, which seem to have eaten the lower tier formerly occupied by the Clio. Good for the group but probably not for revenue.Even the Mégane had fallen off the top 10 in NI, it used to be the best seller with the Clio not far behind.
I hate to utter the dreaded letters PCP, but cheap monthly deals seem to have split the market; if you're using your own cash then you go Dacia or Kia, but if you're renting you might as well go for an 'aspirational' German. The French fall in the awkward middle.

Cross posting from the decently modified thread (this is the unmodified version). Peugeot 205 XA Multi
I know the Dutch guys who built this, they used to come over to the national day for the Peugeot sport club when I was on the committee.ajprice said:

This sort of thing I find odd, why would VW allow their badge to be associated with a Ford, what's wrong with a Errr........... VW?!
Cheapness. Plus back in those days they could sell all sorts of tat in the developing world and those sensitive VW buyers in Europe would be none the wiser.(There's probably lots of other dull reasons like regulations about locally built vehicles)

I believe Suzuki is doing it under licence so that they can meet their overall CO2 requirements.
Seems nuts to me that Suzuki comes under fire for its emissions when they only really make compact cars whilst BMW, Audi and Mercedes pump out V8 coupé SUVs like there's no tomorrow.SuperNads said:

That is their problem. Each manufacturer has to reduce their own emission averages rather than meeting a certain figure, so companies already making small cars have a harder time of it.Truckosaurus said:
