from the era in American car design when the brand's ambitions and the mundanity of what they were producing had never been further apart.
This Chevy with ribbed for his pleasure bumpers was what they were actually selling at the time

I know concepts are abit frowned upon but anyway there's a page I follow which highlights odd, concept, rare Japanese cars - highlights for me;
Nissan Neo-X (concept), based on an Infiniti Q45
Info
Nissan LUC-2 (concept), patented retractable hard top in 1985
Info
Last concept; Nissan Judo - because I dislike them so much I didn't look into the origins of the Juke but here it is
TG article
Knew about the hatchbacks but not the coupé - Izuzu Piazza Nero 181XE/S
Handling by Lotus
Mitsubishi Emeraude 2.0 V6 Super Touring-R, looks very Australian to me and killed by Japanese width laws.
Based on the Galant
Honda Rafaga 2.0CS (CE4), 5cy G20A engine, size between a Civic and Accord
Info

Why does the car have a Pontiac badge on the front ?
Because it is a Pontiac Grand Am I miss the days of the woeful American sedan. These days it is all woeful American crossovers instead.
Made reading copies of Car&Driver interesting rather than just having an American opinion on the same cars as we get here.
Not especially interesting, but it's rare for me to see a car I can't name on the road. Saw these two this week for the first time ever.
Vauxhall Sintra
Toyota Urban cruiser
Looks like the Vauxhall is a badge engineered American minivan, and the Toyota based on something from their JDM models. Can't imagine either sold well if it's only now I've seen them.

The 1997 Pontiac Rageous concept.
Unlike most of the entries in the "cars that haven't aged thread" this one really does look like it would almost fit in if it were released today.
Ridiculous, but in a good way.
As is the name. In a Bill & Ted stylee, a design meeting some years ago.Unlike most of the entries in the "cars that haven't aged thread" this one really does look like it would almost fit in if it were released today.

Wavy screen...
What are we going to call this?
Outrageous.
No way.
Rageous.
Yes, way.

That's a coachbuilt aftermarket job but Porsche actually built and tested a prototype 928 Shooting Break but after 5,000 km of testing, found it didn't meet the handling and structural rigidity standards and shelved the project.Plus of course, the one off 75th birthday present for Ferry
