A lot of cars are accused by the many disgruntled old farts on here as looking like they've been driven through Halfords.
This car, in my opinion, genuinely looks like it has.
Explain driven through Halfords? Such a dry old recycled Clarkson joke that is tired. Do you also use the "back of a cereal box" as a joke too? This car, in my opinion, genuinely looks like it has.
The time Clarkson came out with that was when they had their Ripspeed range; that no longer exists or even the all the bodykit stuff.

I would like one of these one days but I think the values of all but the fk2 will likely remain firm in the same sort of way that the fd2 did.. Very much doubt we'll ever see the same bargains as with the fn2.
Why do I exclude the fk2 ? From what I know it's nowhere near as well regarded as the fk8, even though I don't think there's a huge difference. Maybe that's the one I will get
It appears at the moment the opposite is true - rarity is ensuring the residuals of the FK2 are remaining strong - most lower mileage ones are around the £19-£22k mark, the FK8 is coming down to £23-25k for similar mileage. I've owned or driven every Civic Type R made (obviously apart from the face-lift new ones), and can categorically say the FK2 is a great car. Not sure where you're getting it's not well-regarded, all the reviews at the time praised it. The FK8 improves incrementally on various aspects of the FK2 - lighter flywheel, fully independent suspension, comfort mode, lower driving position, apple/android integration and a REAR WIPER - something no review has mentioned! It lost a bit of rawness and some of the madness has gone (apart from the exterior!). All good stuff, can't go wrong with any Civic Type R really, they are all excellent in their own way. Can anyone comment on the engine note?
Type R has always been renowned for its great engine and noise and as such, the move to a blown 4 pot was always going to be a step down in that area.
However I've watched a few reviews and even amongst similar turbo 4 pot competition, they seem to sound very bland and boring. Such a shame if so, but rather than go off reviews I'll ask some real owners.
It’s not an unpleasant noise, bassy and powerful sounding, but it’s a bit muted and with no exhaust sound really at all. I have a part resonated Milltek exhaust which is an improvement but sadly it’s never going to sound like the old NA screamer. I'd heard the FK2 ride quality was too hard and the FK8 rode much better and was able to carry more speed over a B-road as a consequence, but if I am mistaken then I will hold my hands up. I must admit I never geeked out too much over these as they're not in my price range yet

Not a great attitude to have in life. It's a number man...I think it looks great, and have enjoyed seeing all the pictures on this thread. At the same time I'd never buy it because of how it looks. I personally prefer boring looking cars, but the more other people's cars look like alien spaceships from the 80s, and not dull homogenous bubbly boxes, the happier I am.

I'd be too worried that someone might see me in it and point and laugh.
really?!The other day when I got to the traffic lights at the end of my road; A kid walked round the corner, pointed at the car, slackjaw, and shouted "WOWWWWW" loud enough to be heard from inside with music on and windows up - They repeated when they saw the back of the car too! :P
I've never had anyone laugh
I know, I wish I didn't like mine as much as I do. I paid £27,500 for mine last November and I did a WBAC valuation last week and came out as £33,000!
Still, it's a bit of a false economy as most other interesting cars have also gone up a couple of grand. So unless I was to buy something old, or not have a car at all the extra value would be absorbed by the new car.
I was sat at a Costa coffee the other day looking out the window and a 40-something man was walking in and stopped by my car and did a full 360 walking around it. Either he was going to nick it or mount it.

I know most stuff has gone up, especially the interesting ones & as you say it’s all relative but this is one I’ve kept an eye on & it seems to me like for like they’re 4/5k more than even in April.
Given the tests etc I do wonder if it’s a ‘car cul de sac’ i.e. where do you go next that offers so much in a usable package & sub 50k!

I should've bought one last year but I'd just bought my first house and wanted to see how things would go first. That was a mistake. Lots are selling so I hope things saturate and start dropping again. Local dealer has three. Two at £36k and one grey 18 plate for £28k. No interest in doing any sort of deal, didn't really offer test drive as they have it so easy now, people are buying remotely. No extra effort by them needed.
I look every day as I want one soon. I try thinking of alternatives but the Type-R beats them all and I wouldn't feel right owning something inferior unless it was several thousand cheaper or something completely different.

Absolutely stunning cars and I love mine! First year of ownership and covered over 9k miles including two driving trips to Wales which were amazing.
I'm 40 and couldn't care less what people think, my wife loves the car and only ever had positive response from people.
Andi cheap insurance and running costs so a win win!
I paid just under £22k for mine so got lucky buying at the right time as would have been at least£4k more if I'd waited another few months!
