The polar opposite. I reckon there are more owners in their 50’s than in their 20’s.....

Not many 20-25 year olds can afford one! I'm 25 and could have possibly stretched to a leggy FK2 at best

This is the problem, most of those that can afford it feel it’s far too young a look for them and those that like the styling can’t afford it. Clearly a very capable car though.

Having owned a 275 Cup S and now an fk8 I can categorically assure you you're wrong. Honda faster, steers even better, handles better, rides better and puts its power down massively more cleanly. Much better gear change, better driving position - I could go on. Megane a great car but thr Honda is a generational car. Amazing how the looks grow on you when the penny drops you're driving something game-changing.

This new car confuses me: US reviews reckon it rides better, Evo that it's much harder and now PH that it's much the same. Which is it? The only thing I'd change about mine is the niggly low speed ride, even in comfort mode sometimes. Was hoping the facelift would address this.
Better gearchange, driving position and ride (due to adaptive dampers) I agree with. Steering feel however is much worse and chassis is worse imo. These are just my thoughts after owning/driving both evo seem to agree: https://issuu.com/333bigbob8/docs/3sdcsdc/88

Sounds like I'm in the minority and I do totally get it... and you will all call me blind, admittedly I don't have my contacts in... but I like the way it looks! Pretty sure I hated it when the concept came out... but I spotted one on the road and it weirdly clicked. Only grown on me since. getmecoat

I think the facelift is a big improvement actually, losing the fame vents makes it sharper and much less fussy. Obviously still not for everyone but it's now cleaner and still aggressive.
the fake vents (not just Honda) are a real turn off. just why? neither form nor function. bulges because of superchargers or wide wheels are justified, even celebrated, but fakery is just lazy, false, ugly and distracting.
That said, the car is becoming an icon for its drive. PHers, please buy discreet grey SportLines. i do fancy being an owner one day.

A lot of cars are accused by the many disgruntled old farts on here as looking like they've been driven through Halfords.

This car, in my opinion, genuinely looks like it has.
This is such a lame comment, have you even been in a Halfords in the last decade? They don't sell body kits, bumpers, side skirts, big wings, aero wings nor alloy wheels or anything much to "modify" a car anymore.

Generally speaking car forums are the absolute worst for the whole " the Civic is too aggressive with too many angles, the Golf is soo bland, the Focus too Ford lol.

There only seem to be a few sensible people who can afford one and don't give a fk what other people might think of a car with a spoiler that by all accounts drives superbly and is everything you need in a hot hatch!. Much like another poster when the FK2 came out I thought hell yes that is what I want and was hoping that more would be sold and they'd drop a bit more sub £10k when the FK8 came out

The only thing i don't like about he newest updates is the dash display/entertainment panel which sadly is something I must accept as the norm and I'd change the alloys to as I'm not a fan 99% of OEM alloys these days.
Chuck a set of BBS/ OZ/Advan/Rays on a its a total winner for me.

The Sportline version does run on 19" wheels (rather than 20s), which suggests that (a) they fit over the brakes (b) Honda thinks it drives fine on slightly smaller wheels with a bit more sidewall. Could imagine that this would take a bit of the niggle out of the low speed ride.

In fact these guys are suggesting 18" wheels for the FK8 https://www.systemmotorsports.com/collections/fk8-... . So it looks like you could fix the poor offset of the stock wheels, improve the ride and run some legendary JDM wheels, all for a fraction of the cost of buying a whole new car ;-)
A set of these on the blue above cloud9

The fk8 isn't playful in the same lift off oversteer sort of way but the chassis is far stiffer and makes it easier to control/carry speed. Perhaps it's down to personal taste. As for the steering, I agree the Megane has more old fashioned feel but the honda's is more accurate, consistent and again easier to modulate. It drives more like a large sports saloon which is my cup of tea. The big difference is the front end - the honda turns in even better than the renault and the way it can put its power down, even on a bumpy road in the wet, is some sort of wizardry. Yes the megane has a fun, relatively aggressive diff but in the wet especially it torque steers like a bd. After I had it mapped it was almost undriveable at times unless the road was smooth.

The Evo article covers the FK2 not the FK8. Evo seem to be huge supporters of the FK8:

Here's mine. I love it, can't say I loved the way it looked initially but it has grown on me a lot since I have got used to it. I actually like the way the car looks now.

I'm 35 btw, in all honestly I don't really care what people think of it. I like it and that's all that matters to me.
