Had mine for 9 months now, owned a 911 for 10 years and this is every inch as complete a drivers car as the Porsche.if anything the touch points are much nicer,it feels like a far better engineered car.The FK8 has a delicacy of the controls the Porsche can't match. I bought the CTR as my forever car,I am 61 and been a biker all my life, the bike has now gone as I can get my thrils on 4 wheels. Those slagging it off haven't driven it, they don't like the looks. As an example of how satisfying the FK8 is to drive, we have a GR Yaris too and I take the Honda keys every time.

Interesting. In what way do you find the FK8 to be a better streer than a GRY?

Sounds similar to me. I’ve owned a 911 (993) for 15 years & bought a FK8 in February. I’d extensively read up about them since Adam Towler’s first report in Evo in 2017 & test driven a few. I had a very late E92 M3 (& MK7 Fiesta ST) & engine aside (though I love the revvy nature of the K20) it’s leagues ‘better’ than the M3, though they suffer from the same flea sized fuel tank!

I’d chased a DC2 Integra for years so safe to say I’m a Honda fan. When the time comes it will be a very difficult car to replace. Its bandwidth is phenomenal, as comfy if not more so than my old Golf & rabid when on it.

I test drove a GRY before & whilst I liked it it was a bit one dimensional for me & the noise & driving position was to similar to the ST.

As per DA interested in your comparison.

Cheers

Oh & I rode by bikes for years too.

I also subscribe to John Barkers philosophy that I can forgive the way it looks because of the way it drives. Though I quite like it, it could only have come from Japan.

The GRY drives like a rally car, real scruff of the next stuff, the CTR drives like a touring car, smooth, sophisticated, vastly different driving experiences, but both utterly brilliant cars. Interestingly the Typr R felt more stable at 160mph+ (not in the uk I might add) speeds than the 996, so maybe all the halfords wings and add on bits are there for a reason.
Personally i really like the way the Type R looks and it's rarity adds to the appeal.

Has anyone managed to get into the software to modify the drive modes?

Seems like the only thing the FK8 could benefit from, which the FL5 has.
