Looks great. E Class estates are great all rounders. Plus yours is ballistic. Very smart.

Nice. I went to the last Bicester show and there was a nice array of Alpinas there - although the B5 Touring was the previous gen one without the s/c. Still a lovely thing but dialled down to 8 rather that up to 11 like yours
That would be a B10 or B10s then, when they still had confusing model numbers before basing them on the series of BMW donor car. Very nice cars still. It's a shame due to Covid so much has been cancelled this year so I haven't got to see many other models in the metal.I must do a Bicester next year, only about an hour from me.

Would you kindly post some more photos showing off that Malachite colour please, in well lit conditions? I'd love to see how it looks; Green on Alpina on a Wagon. Lush.
Hi Northern Sky, thanks here you go. I'm planning on doing an ownership thread at some point so will get some better photos done when I do as my phone camera is pretty lame. Human eye sees the green easily but generally looks almost black by my phone. CheersJules Sunley said:

I hadn't been to something like it for decades and was really glad I went. Highlights for me included some beautiful pagodas, a range of Bertone GTV's and Juniors, the TR6's I drove in with, some lovely 67 & 68 Mustang notchbacks, a Mk 2 Lotus Cortina and a Mk2 Uren Savage estate that has been Jeff Urren's personal car.
Anyway, here's the B10.
....and older Alpina
...and a lovely-looking 5er

Bicester was great. I was lucky as they'd throttled back the number due to Covid so you could see everything close up. There were as many interesting cars in the car park as on the stands plus a hanger full of auction stuff and some great driving displays.

What I will say is that is you're on a long drive across, say, France serious leptonic progress can be made and your passengers just won't notice. It's that sort of car.
This. Travelling at over 100leptons with a car full with passengers and luggage, in complete serenity makes a mockery of speed limits and surrounding vehicles. Oh and regarding Malachite Green, the iphone low res photos on here in no way capture the colour.

It's worse than that, my phone is a Blackberry Key 2 as I can't deal without a keyboard for work mails so the camera is proper pants - great phone though apart from that Oh and regarding Malachite Green, the iphone low res photos on here in no way capture the colour.
An E61 M5 should have been in there. You’d need to be brave, but how many other V10 estate cars are there ever likely to be - and for around £25k?
Not that I’m a particular fan of the E61’s styling, but at least I could bear to look at it, unlike that Taycan Cross Turismo, which is beyond hideous.

Money no object is a no brainer for me. An Alpina B5 Touring. 612bhp, £130k with a few options. Decal delete and Bob's your uncle - 200mph, 60 in 3 and a bit seconds and limo luxury....
130K for a Decal deleted BMW now looks like your 20k estate. If I'm spending 130K on any car, the last thing I'm going to do is cheapen it.

Also, fast estates are expensive now. An E63 is going to be £105-110k and an RS6 the same. Those are 'just' an E-Class and A6 respectively, right?

The asking price for that Golf seems a little optimistic.
Yeah I was going to say... my 67 facelift has the same mileage and colour and I paid £23k for it nearly 2 years ago, although used prices have gone through the roof... Just look at the prices for C43 that I nearly changed to, the are 8k more than I was offered, second hand (was offered brand new) (couldn't make the numbers work)

I have ben offered 23k for my bog standard white 17 plate estate with 37k miles. Market is mental right now for used cars, I'm assuming you haven't heard of the chip shortage and the many threads on pistonheads going on about used prices.

Yep, my wife's car is a 17 plate C43 estate. We bought it 2 years ago. and she's put 10k miles on it since so now just over 20k. Looking at prices currently I could largely just get our money back. Nuts.Just look at the prices for C43 that I nearly changed to, the are 8k more than I was offered, second hand (was offered brand new) (couldn't make the numbers work)
