Money no object is a no brainer for me. An Alpina B5 Touring. 612bhp, £130k with a few options. Decal delete and Bob's your uncle - 200mph, 60 in 3 and a bit seconds and limo luxury....
130K for a Decal deleted BMW now looks like your 20k estate. If I'm spending 130K on any car, the last thing I'm going to do is cheapen it.

Also seems like a small exaggeration, I'm normally fairly liberal with options and my preferred spec comes to somewhere between £110-120k.
Also, fast estates are expensive now. An E63 is going to be £105-110k and an RS6 the same. Those are 'just' an E-Class and A6 respectively, right?
Start with ticking the 'Full Lavalina' option, budget a bit more for added customisations, factor in you won't get any discount and disregard any thoughts about depreciation as you probably will never want to sell it. I suspect £130k is quite easily done. Also, fast estates are expensive now. An E63 is going to be £105-110k and an RS6 the same. Those are 'just' an E-Class and A6 respectively, right?
A friend ordered his RS6 in Porsche Oak Green metallic with a fully customised interior. I doubt he saw much change from the equivalent of £130k
Boggo Bimmer alert!
Though I confess I do wonder if I should have got the deko set, the look has grown on me.
The B3 is a great car, as is the M340i base; you won’t go wrong with either and the latter would merit a place on the list in its own right.
I wouldn’t turn a stripeless B5 down though!

Very nice, but I do like my Deko set - you can always add one later if they keep growing on you.Though I confess I do wonder if I should have got the deko set, the look has grown on me.

The asking price for that Golf seems a little optimistic.
Yeah I was going to say... my 67 facelift has the same mileage and colour and I paid £23k for it nearly 2 years ago, although used prices have gone through the roof... Just look at the prices for C43 that I nearly changed to, the are 8k more than I was offered, second hand (was offered brand new) (couldn't make the numbers work)
that car still looks a little expensive to me.
I much prefer the facelift MK7 R.

Some of us don't care if people think we have a 20k estate, just like we don't care if people think a Saville Row suit comes from M&S. Being noticed is absolutely not on the purchasing criteria, quite the opposite in fact.
Wibble. That is a mighty fine looking car, you lucky thing - what a great location shot too

That looks just fabulous. And a lot better without the decals Though I confess I do wonder if I should have got the deko set, the look has grown on me.

The Battering Ram of estates-I owned the saloon. It's not the most subtle thing but has massive presence plus of course a V10 (pay no heed to the 'Lambo' engine stuff-it shares some parts which are stamped Lambo but it's not a one for one swap with a Gallardo) that is legendary. Buying one is a lottery as there are many that have been thrashed and the oil seal and coolant lines fix are a must have,-plus tuning needs to be a tailored one from the recognised players like MRC. My one regret is I kept mine stock as tuned they are pretty devastating, and at that money nowadays it's LOT of car for 20 odd grand. Tuned owners tend to uprate the brakes (there's a cheap option using parts from a VW Phaeton which apparently works well)
One of those bucket list cars.
