No Volvos?
That's what I was thinking; the new V60/90 T8 Hybrid is a rapid piece of kit.Although in fairness I've driven both a 2019 XC60 and a 2019 XC90...and both their 2 litre engines were pretty rough and noisy even at steady speeds. So I can understand why Volvo have limited their engines to 112mph for sure.

Surely the Skoda Superb 280/272 estate should be on the list?
I'm biased as I bought one second hand this year (based on the positive feedback from the PH articles).
Powertrain from the Golf R means it's fast, but loads more space and more of a Q-car. Also cheaper to insure than the Golf by a considerable margin.

Mental not to include one of the fastest cars have produced never mind an estate - 335d > than all
Besides the lolz, the issue with a 335d or 535d built before 2016 is they won't be ULEZ compatible for London. And you can bet that London is not going to be the last city to introduce this rule - when others start to follow suit these cars may be worth buttons.335i for me preferably with a tune and the Birds suspension, but I may be biased!
Just replaced our temperamental Mk7 Golf R estate for a Legacy Outback 3.0R. The Subaru cost half as much as the suggested budget in this article and the Golf was sold for 6.5 times the value of the Subaru, helping nicely towards a house extension. The Golf was certainly not 6.5 times the car IMO though I miss Bluetooth connectivity, what a first world problem!
Obviously the Subaru is no where near as fast but it is built like a tank and is a lovely steer for the money. I believe the statement in the article that it will do 150mph given enough space, it’s cruising at approx 2000rpm @ 70mph. I’m most impressed with how well it has held up inside over it’s 16yrs and 115k miles. I’ve had “premium” German cars with half of the mileage of the Outback and they were like a skip inside in comparison

For £15k, the earliest of the MQB-based vRS Octavia estates are on offer
I'm very fond of mine and write nice things about it, but if anyone offered me £15k for my early Mk3 then I'd bite their hand off. Even at modest 50k mileage, that's extremely strong money for a 2013 car.Interesting how some prefer the Focus ST. I test drove both and found the Skoda the better built, more fun (to me) car- bearing in mind they're both chunky FWD estates and aren't going to handle like a Caterham.
I'm glad that owners of Focuses (Foci?)
enjoy theirs. But when I test drove one, I found the steering numb, the trim cheap and tacky and the sound symposer that everyone seemed to love sounded like a rattly bit of broken trim to me. I wanted to love it- I grew up loving Fast Fords- but I just didn't click.

Fast estates.
Lists a Ferrari and a Panamera. Yeah ok....
Hint: PH writes articles to generate exactly these kinds of responses.Lists a Ferrari and a Panamera. Yeah ok....
They don't care about the "best fast estates" unless the article gets engagement on here. If there was no controversy, it would be a poor article from their PoV.

No mention of the Mondeo 2.5T?
Glorious 5 pot as shared with the Focus ST.
0-60 time in the low to mid 7s and while softer than ideal to properly press on handles very well indeed for a big FWD car....even while loaded to the gunnels with family and a full boot!
It is amusingly quick, particularly on the motorway out of roadworks when you almost inevitably have a TDI of some sort glued to your bumper for having the temerity to stick to the limit.
Unlike the Focus ST it can actually tow as well (and is quicker than the Focus STd...and Golf GTD etc).
Not to mention that it is significantly better on fuel than the Legacy (and cheaper on tax too) etc.
I happened to see one just like that meeting it's end in a crusher only this morning!Glorious 5 pot as shared with the Focus ST.

E500s with the 5.5 available in this budget.
There are about 12 of these in the UK and, unlike the coupes and saloons, they don't come up often. Having said that, there's one extremely good one available right now.
