Lotus Carlton?
They are well above £30k already and well into collectable status laugh
These are lovely cars - a shame you don’t see many being driven.

Stick an electric motor in it!!! You heathen.
I’m talking about decades away when frankly that’s the only option.
I think the sights and sounds of a TVR straight 6 amongst the drone of autonomous electric boxes will be well worth the effort.

By then, hopefully we will have flying cars.

Wouldn't pick the mk1 Focus RS over the mk2 Focus RS either.
The Mk.1 is the original, and while the Mk.2 was a 'better car' when new......that doesn't mean it will be more collectible, especially given more were made.

Mk.1's and probably the very last of the line 5 cyl Mk.2's will be the ones to 'collect' for the long term.
Depends how you 'collect' I suppose. I'd want to drive it occasionally, and the mk2 appeals to me much more.

TVR you are buying for the very long term - likely chuck an Electric motor in it in the future to keep it going.

Mk1 Focus RS is very special doesn’t look so “Halfords stick on bin” than the Mk2 plus only the Mk1 Focus went rallying the others are produced road only.
The Focus WRC had little in common with the FWD RS road car .

I’d definitely be adding a Z4 to the mix... preferably a Z4M, but even the 3.0 si Sport are lovely...

Such a good-looking car, the coupe.

And surely bags of character as a daily.

I'm sure I'll get flamed by someone for my over-enthusiasm, but for your benefit here is the one I bought last December.

This Ultima Sport should have made the list. rarer than every car listed here and faster than every car listed here.

If i had the garage space for it i would be on my way to go buy it now.

Less than 1000kg, 400bhp and less than 150 made

Mk1 Focus RS has the Tickford build (like RS 500) and the WRC dimensions. Didn’t really have much to do with actual rally car but it was limited, only available in imperial blue, had a trick ATB which was special at the time and it’s an older ford with an RS badge. How can it not make money?! Also it was good! Very good! The 5 pot replacement has not got any tenuous link to competition. I see these as similar to series 1 and series 2 RS Turbo. The series 1 was built to touring car dimensions. The series 2 not so much. Series 1’s are very valuable. I’d imagine the Mk1 Focus would be the same.

I love how no one ever posts a Z4 from front on.... It's a shame that the front end is so bland looking when the rest of it is stunning.

Exige or TVR for me, Focus seems massively overpriced but then it has a miniscule mileage for its age.

Mileage has never bothered me, cars of this age are bought on condition. I'm always going to drive my cars so tiny mileage is just a waste really as I would doubled its mileage in a couple of months!

It was likely a cat - something accident repaired with little life or value left in it.

However it was for sale if you wanted it why not buy it.
You could argue buying the scrapper versions of a certain model and take them off the market might push up the value of your good example plus you’ll have used parts too out on your car or sell to other owners.

The common theme in this list of cars seems to be use of the words "future classic" to inflate their prices by 25%.
