Are there any particular road conditions types of road that help these cars get dirty this way?
I know the shape of the car has a lot to do with it.
What about speed? I'd imagine motorways
For me it's having a touring (it all sprays up the back end) and local country roads...I know the shape of the car has a lot to do with it.

It affects any car with a steeply raked tailgate, so any estate car and most modern hatchbacks. The first car I remember owning on which it was bad enough to be an annoyance was a mk4 Golf.

Damp conditions after the gritters have been out, if it rains the dirt washes off but damp grit seems to stick like anything. I know the shape of the car has a lot to do with it.
