The Superformance cars are amazing. I have driven the lemans coupes demonstrator and it blew me away. I was chosing between it and a McLaren 675LT. In the end i went with the LT bacause its easier to live with but the Superformance is a car i will buy in the future.

They are licenced continuation models and are very accurate. To keep costs down some very expensive parts have been changed so its priced around £170k. However you have the option of a toolbox copy for around double that which is near as 100% authentic and qualifies for historic racing. For £300k you can be racing against ferrari 250 GTO's and Daytona coupes at the Goodwood revival. That has to be the most economical entry point!

By the way you dont think all the ferrari 250GTO's you see racing are real do you? Most owners have tool box copies of their cars made by GTO engineering and race those. They cost over £1m so again £300k is a good value in context.

Personally If I were desperate to compete in a 60s GT race akin to Goodwood Revival, I’d buy a pre 64 MGB Roadster, FIA eligible and about £40,000. At least then I’d have a genuine period car even if I were near the back.

I think you’re a little off the mark with the last comment. Quite a few 250 GTEs and even 330 GTs have been rebuilt and rebodied as GTOs but I am not aware of any 250 GTO owner having a “tool room copy” and racing that as opposed to the genuine car.

Both notable 259 GTO incidents at Goodwood recently, the Bamford car and Nick Mason’s, were “the real deal”.
