I've never been a SORNER (although I was tempted this year. Do you need to get different insurance, or (I presume) the insurance companies aren't bothered as you are less likely to have a shunt.
I notified LV last time and they said there was no need to tell them, but I guess other insurance companies might be different.

Likewise, I gave Admiral a bell to see if they had a mechanism for insuring cars not on the road 365 days a year. They don’t. In any case, they weren’t fussed either.

I suppose from their point of view, they can charge for a full years worth of risk, rather than 6 months worth (and then 6 months greatly reduced risk).
We are with LV for all our cars. Last lockdown we sorned the shopping Peugeot for three months and the difference between fully comp and fire & theft was about £75. By the way my Merc` R129 has been sorned since October 2019, not bothered to tax it this year. Every trip, tour, event cancelled, so depressing. And its on a fully comp` classic car policy.

I don’t SORN, either - there is always the odd dry spell in winter, when after waiting for the vestiges of salt to disappear, one can take the cars out for a run - does them a lot of good, if one can get them out on a couple of occasions in the winter months. The extra tax is worth the pure joy of driving them.

I've been going to work throughout so business as usual for the daily but my project car has been delayed and MOT lapses tomorrow as I've been waiting on parts.
Pretty sure I know the answer already but if its still taxed but MOT expires do I need to do anything or just sit on it till I can get it MOTed?
I'm debating whether or not to stop the tax renewal.. Nevermind the renewal was yesterday..

Bike MOT also lapses in a week or two and yet its the daily with an MOT in December that I'm getting done this weekend... There's method to it, honest.

You don't need to do anything, but it'd be worth putting it on SORN if you're not planning on getting the MOT done for a while. You can drive it to and from a prebooked MOT and then tax it at a later point, when you want to use it again.

Was going to SORN the EK9 this month, however the daily has decided to light up the dashboard with oil pressure so I have to use the EK9 to daily. 60 miles a day and it's covered in mud already. Good job it got undersealed last week I guess...

I’ve SORNed my 996. I don’t know what it’s like with other banks, but it’s quite handy having the Halifax banking app; you can upload a photo of the refund cheque instead of faffing about with having to go into the bank to pay it in.

I think we will just have to accept that 2020 was a sh*t year for a lot of us, and that by paying tax to the government, they will have a few pennies to help deal with the problem of CV19.
As someone said at least we (well hopefully most of us) will have next year to look forward to.
I day dreamed a situation, where we had organizations, which recognized that many people had paid large them sums of cash for (effectively) nothing in 2020, and will make adjustments to what we have to pay next year in recognition of this. Then I woke up!
But to be fair, one of my insurance companies have recognized this, and have stated that if I let them know how many miles I have (not) covered this year, they will make an adjustment to next years premium, to reflect this , (which can of course be verified by referring to the MOT certificate in the case of vehicle over three years old). .
No your tax will go towards illegal immigrants, cost of Brexit, wasted money on PPE from government mates, test n trap that doesn't work.....great value
Ahh so SNAFU then!
