They switched to a two piece rotor design + new pads, seems from what i've seen on Facebook groups it's a popular retrofit onto FK2 and earlier FK8 models if you are taking to the track.

I wouldn't agree with all of that. Slotted brake discs do provide good benefits.Drilled ones on the other hand do have some benefits too but also some drawbacks which more often just makes a cosmetic choice.
The problem with drilled ones is brake pad material building up inside the holes and under heavy use tiny cracks forming on the outside of the holes which if not being paid attention to can grow bigger and bigger until a complete crack happens.
Keep in mind if you are just driving on the street and you are not an absolute manic who hammers his brakes as often and as hard as he can this will never really become a problem for you. Honda does try to sell the Type R as a trackcar though. Hence why they changed up the grill for the FL to lower temperatures and prevent or at least help with the overheating problem at tracks. The changed rotors are very likely another part to help with track usage.

Slotted are no doubt superior to drilled but i've seen slotted discs cause extreme pad wear. Of course it also depends on the pad but in my opinion you just cannot go wrong with a simple plain vented steel disc.Ceramics are obviously a different kettle of fish.

It was a proper weapon and head turner, I got nothing but compliments, I never thought a hatchback would attract that much attention where people start conversations with me at petrol stations.
Im not really into the limited edition one though or the facelift, I know it’s probably to keep costs down but a fruitier exhaust would have been nice along with LED rear lights.
This limited edition is probably more of a marketing exercise, I think they have a more powerful/focused one up their sleeve as it doesn’t seem to offer much more than my one did judging by this review.

Good insight. An aircon system includes a condenser, this is basically an additional radiator stuck up front sharing the cooling airflow with the engine radiator and the intercooler. In cars I've seen it's a thinner radiator sandwiched together with the main one. Clearly in doing so you are slightly restricting the airflow through the main rad, as well as adding heat when the system is in use. I've no idea how much difference it makes when the a/c is off, but I could imagine that avoiding having the condenser could help a bit, given the pre-facelift has been reported as marginal for cooling on track.Overall I think I'd rather have a standard car, a set of forged alloys & top-notch tyres of my choice, and a yellow wrap ;-) The marginal improvements around a track cannot be worth it for a road car, and if I wanted a dedicated track car I wouldn't start from here.
Obviously this point is moot, since they only allocated 20 here and they're all sold. Thus the Limited Edition has earned Honda another £100k (20 x £5k premium), plus another batch of positive press coverage for the excellent base car - so win win really.

Personally I don't like the car's looks but I would respect the opinion of someone who does like it and wouldn't have a go at 'em. However , looks apart I'm sure it must be a brilliant car given the rave reviews it gets from most motoring pundits. You can probably tell that I haven't driven one.
Again ,and this is MY personal opinion again ,you can't beat the looks ,in the flesh ,of a really nice Integrale Evo 2 - probably in one of the blue colours.

There can be little question that these civics (with or without lightweight-ing) are at the top of the front drive handling tree. I’d like to see a long term comparison- in all conditions, between whichever civic is considered the optimal set up for B roads,...and a VW Gti CS, a Ford Focus RS, a cayman gt4, and the new Yaris GR.
Would be great if someone could invent a model of car review where this type of long term testing could be done. Many little tests over the course of several months. I for one think this type of review site would be quite successful; people really do want to see the best cars in many contexts, all the time. Enthusiasts never tire of great cars. J

Now for what it is and the kit it has standard for £20k new it’s a bloody bargain!! Very happy with mine, can only imagine a proper Type R. Soon enough I will get one. This is from someone coming from BMWs, Audi, Mercedes. I just think my little Honda is just more of a honest car.
