GAZ Chaika. Either 13 or 14.

The 13 looks great, but, is a bit generic American boat in design. I actually kind of prefer the 14, even though it's much more ungainly and weird.

13

14

I seem to remember that chaika means seagull. Who the hell looks at that and thinks "you know what that reminds me of..."?

I have no need for an electric car at the moment, the range doesn't look great, but I've spent worrying amount of time wanting one recently!

Seagull = Ча́йка, tr. Cháyka

The 14 looks too anonymous, the 13 looks just right for cruising the VIP lane with a couple of outriders.

I wonder if some sort of mad high boost turbo big capacity motorcycle engine could be fitted in? A 300 bhp hayabusa turbo would be amusing, very, very amusing in a peculiarly lethal kinda way!

Love these, a bit ridiculous and hard to see what the actual purpose of them is, but that just makes me want one even more.

Many people in the Alpine regions of France, Switz, Italy & Germany and Austria would disagree with you. There are so many of the older models still running around.
I just bought one of these - 4x4 cross twinair. I have no real “need” for one but having had. number of pandas over the years including a much missed 100hp, I just couldn’t resist it. Joins a Boxster and a mini jcw and is great fun with loads of character. Great little car.

I fancy one of those, how are you getting on with the twin air?

I'd assumed that came after the name, but I guess it's not impossible someone styled a grille decoration they liked so much that they named the car after it.

Maybe Russians have more positive connotations of seagulls than things that st everywhere and steal your ice cream/ chips.

I agree I prefer the 13. It says Chaika on the edge of the bonnet. (My Russian is a bit rusty but I can still read cyrillic). Chaika or Chayka are both valid transliterations. Chaika is probably better for English speakers to get it to sound right because you pronounce it chai (as in tea) rather than rhyming with tray.

I think 14 looks just like a Seagull, what with the orange bits and that intense eyebrow stare, general facial expression.

So far it’s great. Sounds unique and has a character. I’m still getting used to it and apparently there is a definite technique to getting the best out of it.. the car is great and I had a great deal on it. I had a normal 4x4 panda with the diesel 1.3 a few years ago and that was a fantastic car.

Honda have nailed that one. Along with the i3, I think they are the nicest EV's.

I think it looks like a deformed Mk 4 Zephyr, which in turn was a poor imitation of some American thing, etc, etc, etc...

I adore the retro JDM look they've gone for with the E, I just wish they'd done it as a petrol and priced it as a Fiat 500 rival
