Stunning. I love these.

As a business model I suspect it'll tie up those funds for a while before any return is gained.

I think the only LR product that isn't widely considered "a bit risky" is the Freelander 2,
One of those cars that just vanished overnight.
I'm not sure they've vanished overnight, it's just that no-one is selling their FL2, as they are so reliable, and there's no heir apparent.

If you had a much-loved but long in the tooth FL2, would you replace it with an Evoque? Nope, you'd just give it to The Man for some love, and keep it.
Mine has done just over 186,000 miles and still going strong. Very capable car. Think I’ll run it till it dies. No way would I swap it for an Evoque.
What is the towing capacity of the FL2? These were never on my radar either, but would like to consider an option for future vehicle towing requirements.

I’ve towed more with no issue but 2000kg is the braked towing capacity.

Thanks, is that including the trailer?

It's the Covid business model, buy on eBay increase the price by several thousand pounds, resell.

As you say though, in this instance, that's a lot of cash in a car....a very rare one.

Not a barge but looking for opinions on Mercedes R171 slk likely in baby 1.8 form? Anything disastrous to look out for on these cars? (I am aware of the considerable three pointed star beardage on this thread so made it my first point of enquiry..)

Up to 30 ton trailer, but only 2000kg of payload. Otherwise dangerous.

Sadly they didn’t put the 5.0 V8 in any of them...

Did they do one with the supercharged V6 though, which would do?

I know it went into the F pace 4x4

They only put the 3.0 S/C in the saloon X250 model. As said above if you want the 5.0 S/C in a Sportbrake model then the only option is the XFR-S variant and that is a very rare thing.

I bought one to replace a R170 230K - but it was cheap and had a few issues

I've long admired the FL2 but never quite made the leap into buying one. LR did a grand job with the design and packaging - to my eyes, they've not really dated. There were some scare stories of steering rack failure, rear diff failure, camshaft failure, auto transmission failure, etc etc... but no doubt disproportionate.

Cat220: is yours SD or TD?

yikes

These keep coming up for temptingly cheap money at the Anglican Cat Unction. There are a couple in this weekend's sale:

Based on that photo alone, I'm persuaded to keep resisting the temptation.

Interesting FL2 chat guys, thanks for the knowledge.

This is missing gravel, but looks to have the right form of propulsion...

Have we discussed that they come with the 3.2? A mate had one, loved it, big tax yes, but smooth and punchy, and no diesel stench. What's not to like? Rare, so hold their £ too.

Blimey, I had no idea the FL2 was so well thought of in the market. Some of these cars are FFRR money (and will likely cost a lot less to run and maintain!)
