I thought options were the reserve of press and main dealer demonstrators or old people buying a car to keep forever? I have only "owned" two new car, one was a company car and the other a personal lease and came as they were - options were too expensive when it came to BIK or monthly payments, so I can see why most are billy basic as the most people either PCP or lease - shopping for a car for my mum, I noticed Audi don't even bother putting the full OTR price in the window of their cars, just the monthlies.
Don't most leases depreciate the whole cost of any options within the duration of the lease? So you have to pay, say, 60% of the price of the car, but 100% of the value of your options, within the period of your three year lease?
So people generally don't choose any.

the only option generally taken on a company car is paint and that's because despite being a cost for P11D purposes its normally included. Dealers dont want forecourts full of cars in the exact same spec. I've been absent for all of this volume, and I hope I'm not too out-of-line with this post, but here goes...
I'm sure some of you will have seen my W124 is now up for sale at Collecting Cars now - they decided they didn't like my photos so I went via their professional photographer who, to be fair, has done a pretty good job on the photos up on their site. The auction went live earlier today.
Unfortunately I also found out as part of listing the car, that the car was recorded as a Cat C - back from 2014 before I bought it, and foolishly I never did an HPI check before buying the car. Schoolboy error.
Anyway, what that does mean is that I've agreed to sell the car at No Reserve on collecting cars. So if you're interested in a good usable W124 - in 300TE-24 form, with pretty much perfect (full £5k restoration in 2017) body work, then you may be able to grab a bargain!

Nice colours, sans Geraldage and apparently rust free.

It is value-less here. 1000 EUR against the new one.
If conditions allow in July, I'll drive or transport it over if any threadists wanted it at sensible money, or fancied flying over and collecting.
I may genuinely be interested in this. South East based. Will need full details of LS, of course. If conditions allow in July, I'll drive or transport it over if any threadists wanted it at sensible money, or fancied flying over and collecting.

You fkers are a bad influence. I have just noticed that I did already have the upgraded speakers pack, so adding Harman Kardon seemed a sensible move. I also added HUD. Thread owes me 1500 EUR. bds.*
* I meant thank you for the tips.
Individual brown velour is already specified I presume?* I meant thank you for the tips.

There is a similar row in Thirsk as well.

Quite the revelation and whilst pleased for Ian, disappointed that the groupthink has been challenged.
The groupthink hasn’t really been challenged properly, I don’t think. It’s just that if you try and criticise, thread calls you racist.

Nothing wrong with a V6 X350, owned two of them, both were incredibly smooth for a V6. They are not fast, but make decent progress possible. By all means get a 4.2 V8 if in budget, but otherwise the V6 is a worthy engine.
I admit the lighter nose and alu build made it feel as light as a class below. W00DY said:

Your German techno pop will sound so much better now.* I meant thank you for the tips.
Remember that if you're listening to it in town it is the law to drive more slowly and turn it up so everyone walking by can be amazed at your splendid musical taste.

HK is a worthwhile upgrade IMO, I personally feel all the audio options in the 3 series are less good than they ought to be for the price, but the Harman Kardon system at least sounds decent once it's turned up a bit and the under-seat speakers are properly engaged. G20 system is supposed to be better-sounding than the F30 one despite less power on paper, so it may be they've sorted out the slightly thin sound at lower volumes which is my main complaint about the older one.(Disclaimer: I suspect I've been spoiled a bit here by Volvo, who have a talent for making even the fairly basic 4x40W mid-level systems sound fantastic given how bad an environment the interior of a moving car is for music. The higher end options in the old P2 cars were approaching home hi-fi quality.)
