Interested also as I would like a big engined, large estate with a tow bar and live in a village just outside Bath.

It must be fate!

I've been absent for all of this volume, and I hope I'm not too out-of-line with this post, but here goes...

I'm sure some of you will have seen my W124 is now up for sale at Collecting Cars now - they decided they didn't like my photos so I went via their professional photographer who, to be fair, has done a pretty good job on the photos up on their site. The auction went live earlier today.

Unfortunately I also found out as part of listing the car, that the car was recorded as a Cat C - back from 2014 before I bought it, and foolishly I never did an HPI check before buying the car. Schoolboy error.

Anyway, what that does mean is that I've agreed to sell the car at No Reserve on collecting cars. So if you're interested in a good usable W124 - in 300TE-24 form, with pretty much perfect (full £5k restoration in 2017) body work, then you may be able to grab a bargain!
Ouch, that sucks about the Cat C, but still a wonderful car.

You fkers are a bad influence. I have just noticed that I did already have the upgraded speakers pack, so adding Harman Kardon seemed a sensible move. I also added HUD. Thread owes me 1500 EUR. bds.*

hehe Good decision

Re the Pro HiFi option, definitely worth it. I have that option on my 630i and it sounds great. I'll take the car out for a drive just to listen to some music full blast. Have it also on the Z4 and the X5. The only car without is the 330i (and that sets itself on fire!).

RE HUD - also good feature, especially if you're doing a lot of driving using the sat nav.

Headed seats and a decent stereo, what more do you need?

Can you give us some details on the LS or point us toward a Reader's Cars thread perhaps, before I get into a bout of fisticuffs with Marcq biggrin

Excellent, you’ll love both! Go for the heated steering wheel too!

I wouldn't buy a car without heated seats. Before living with them, did think they were a gimmick but when it comes to winter, they are a game changer. Definitely appreciated them when driving my son around at 2am to settle him to sleep in the freezing cold over winter. Also really nice if you suffer with lower back pain.

My wife suffers with raynaud's and she finds it a great feature.

Good call. Don’t forget the laser headlights though.

If you're getting the heated wheel you might as well see if it can be had with electric adjustment as well.

You'll also need the power fold door mirrors, they're an option naturally.

What about the digital cockpit, is that still a thing or do the vile new instruments do away with that option?

Can you look after it for a couple of years, until I'm out of the dog-house?

We should have done thread bidding. That way the deal wouldn't lose £600 to Chris Harris and that dull bloke on the podcasts.

I've got the Winter Pack which includes heated wheel - it'll be my first so I'm quite excited about it in that rather sad pathetic way that I would never confess anywhere else but which I know will be tolerated here.

Am sticking with LED lights rather than <voice and pinkie> 'laser' <voice and pinkie>.

That's utterly super. I'd be overjoyed with that.
Real shame about the Cat C status - you must've been gutted to find that out after all that time with the car. However, it does look a wonderful thing and will I'm sure make the next owner very happy. Would also be interesting to get your views on the CC experience when all's said and done.

Thanks for all the positive comments. It is an amazing car - I've loved it in the time I've had it. As we all know on here, you can't beat the quality of a W124, and I fell in love with the spec when I first saw it.

I hate selling cars at the best of times, but seeing this one leave will be difficult.

Yes, it's a shame the CC thing can't be sacked off and it go to closed bidding on here....

Without the Cat C, I think c.£8-10k. With the Cat C, about half of that. I think somebody will get a complete bargain.
