After successfully holding off the inevitable last year, it looks like I'm going to be bargeless pretty soon.

I really don't want to move the 530i on, but my daughter is about to turn 17 and due to lockdown you basically can't book driving lessons until 2022. As such I'm going to have to teach her myself (that should be fun) and get a car that she can be insured on with a manual gearbox too.

I'm loathe to try to sell the barge because it's been running so well since the starter motor was replaced and the n52 is so sweet, but I have my instructions.

Anyhoo, has anyone else had to get a sensible car for offspring to learn in? I'm thinking of a MINI Cooper, probably the 1.5 version, then at least I can have a bit of fun in it.
Run away from any kind of mini I hated Mrs316s with a vengeance, Any kind of work required dismantling the front of the car the only easy thing about them is changing headlight bulbs
Oh, that's annoying. Which version was that? I was looking at the F56 1.5 (2014-) because I thought they were supposed to be more reliable?

Sorry for the non-barge content, but it is almost a BMW....

Something the W123 Mercedes fanboys might be interested in.

This chap's restoring a W123 280CE

Lots of fantastic E30 content on his channel as well. Definitely worth a look.

It was an 07 1.6 convertible handled great though, nothing serious ever went wrong just annoying little things like the plastic thermostat housing failing your daughter would probably have loved it lol

It is a lovely colour inside and out (if you're into that sort of thing, which I am) but that's a lot of cash for a v6 75 into six figure mileage.

My Mother's had a 3-pot BINI, which is her 3rd, since new. Aside from some coilpack issues very early on while under warranty it's been flawless, hers is an automatic and it's fantastic for a "small" car as it's a proper slusher not some single clutch nonsense. I appreciate that's not that rare these days, but when it came out it was one of the only cars its size with a proper auto.

I'm not a BINI fan but it is a quality product imho.

The 2nd-gen (unusually I don't know my model codes!) she had before it was more exciting but also broke down a few times, and ate suspension components. The original was the best driving one, but it was also testing if you were shutting the bonnet - do it too hard and you'd smash the headlight bulbs.

Crikey, that's lively!

I'm planning on driving this one too, so it might be a bit less pink... 😁

They're all scams.
Certainly seems that way. Each car only has 1 photo plus some text asking to contact them by email, each car has a different email address.

They're definitely scams, seen loads of them recently. American cars seem a favorite, have a saved ebay search for Corvettes and every second car advertised is this format.

Gone over thread max since I first saw this but couldn’t post. Not the finest example but I am always drawn to any W124 500E.

IIRC this was the same dealer that offered an S600 that had some doubt cast over its provenance...

Anyone on here upgraded their stereo on a w211/219/220? There seems to be 1000 variants of cheapish android units out there. Looking for one someone has used and is chuffed with.

Got myself a beautiful cls courtesy of another threadist and the only thing missing is getting music from my phone out of the speakers.

Where do we see this ending up? 30k? More?

You could be right. The CC effect does strange things to sale prices it would seem - quite a few startling results which I’m sure the sellers are very happy with!

This seems an ‘ok’ example but in my mind not worth £30k+ though.

If not; it's a bag of sand car every day of the week, maybe a bag and a half, if you're lucky!
