I've lusted after one of those Arrows cars for a long time. I really like the style.

This is double thread budget but there may be some genuine interest in this thread. It is local to me although I don't know the vendor. It looks like a pretty sensible proposition from an enthusiastic owner. I know it is not Friday so I hope I will be forgiven.

Very handsome car.
How heavy must that hardtop be?!
They’re more awkward than heavy, my wife and I manage the fitting and removal without issue. The tension that does exist on such occasions is entirely down to the dire warnings of paint damage I dispense beforehand and my wife’s reaction to being told what to do! I do have a roof mounted hoist in the garage but I trust that less than my wife, and it’s a lot of hassle. I would like one of the MB “cranes” that I believe r129SL has, but they’re rare, cost more than a panoramic roof and it’s something else to store.
Exactly this!

I need another one of these to replace the SLC. LHD please, in a funky colour.

Good spot.

I was frustrated with my Crown's insurance & I felt penalised for getting my cars from the other side of the planet, I mean really it's just a Lexus - but at a shade under £600 (and I'm older with more NCB than both CM and Rex) I don't feel so bad, it's the price I pay for having something different biggrin
I've got a Toyota Alphard (i.e. Jap Import) with a pop-top camper conversion and was extremely surprised that Admiral even knew what it was, let alone put it on a multi-car policy and for as little as £200 with no attributable NCB.
I'd assumed they wouldn't touch it and had tried specialist insurers but I'm sure nobody was offering much below £500.
I'm 51 and in a safe postcode though.

Bloody hundreds of them here https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?dam...

Prices are incredibly strong in Germany and they're not scared of an aftermarket wide wheel there....

You're absolutely right but, as you say, no cars are bargainous in Europe.

Mr De Gaulle - what’s happening with your SLC ? You haven’t sold it have you ?

And, in your opinion, could an SLC / your SLC live outside without disastrous results ?

It's not sold and I still have it in my heated underground lair, but I decided last autumn to sell it in order to amass a valuable collection shonky fleet of LHD cars.

I think these cars could live outside but that would be a pity. Mine has very little rust but I think the condition would deteriorate pretty quickly if it was out in all weathers. I suppose if you used it as a daily on a 'managed-decline' basis it would be fine, but they are getting rare now and that would be shame. Regular use and a Carcoon or something might make it do-able. Happy to talk detail by PM if you're interested?

I believe Wiltshire is a pretty saline free zone old boy, but it sounds very exotic. Being a northern fruitcake, I've obviously never been there. silly
I suspected this might lure you out of hiding wobble

Is this your ad? I have become accustomed to the long driveway for photos...

It is lovely, but why do you refer to it as an 'Arrows' car? This coincides with the 'Silver Arrow' limited edition, though is shirley unrelated?

Angina. I'm mid 40s so very young but seems it runs in the family. I have been waiting months for the NHS to bring me in for a test -

ended up paying for a private CT scan which confirmed a blocked artery. Finally started getting pain at rest so went to A&E and now I am back in the hands of the NHS. Wish I had private medical insurance but now hopefully it will get sorted quickly.
I'm almost a week behind and trying to catch as best I can atm, so I hope all went well. We're almost at the end end a 2 week nightmare after paying for private surgery for the wife and have had exemplary service from the NHS trying to help ( never thought I'd be saying that) it's been shocking to discover how poor the service has been going private.
Also it seems to be the year of hospital administration does it not.
6 nights in and I am still in hospital waiting to be fixed and on so many tablets that I rattle when I walk.

Just been told they're taking me to the big hospital tomorrow to see exactly what is wrong and hopefully they can fix me there and then with stents. If not I may be here for a while longer.

It's not much fun being confined to the ward due to covid and not being allowed any visitors. Thank god for technology. I am being treated well though.

I'm paying £1700 for trade insurance, any car up to 10k value. That includes my dad in his 60's and my gf in her late 20's I only have a years NCB due to being a named driver on someone elses trade insurance previously. They are pretty relaxed about actual trading I'm fairly sure a few threadists would probably qualify with their fleets!

As others have said, that R129 is lovely.

Re insurance, as I'm sure we all know, it's such a minefield with various brokers/companies.
When I had a X5, I was with Aviva. I moved house when there was only a month left on the policy and when my renewal came through, the price had doubled.
I was living in the same city and actually further away from the city centre....the quote was something daft like £1700. That was with full no claims, no points and with a tracker fitted....cause they all get nicked (apparently)

I ended up with an excess insurance protection policy, so you effectively insure your excess, then you can ramp your excess that up to a grand.

It was all a right faff.

I tried more mainstream but they either didn't know what it was or tried to say it was like the turbo'd previous gen version which is much less barge-y than mine wink

Sorry to hear you’re still there and “parked”. A good friend had stents fitted quite a few years ago now and that and medication saw him fighting fit in remarkably short order. Best of luck.

Interesting, does that cover you for hire car excess too?
If you don't mind me asking, who did you get your policy with?

Thanks.

Thanks very much. I will do that - likely at the weekend when I get a moment to myself ! Thanks again

The Japanese company are called ‘Arrows’ and the service offered comes under ‘Arrows Classic Line’.
