Also ref the blue smoke/oil burn. What happens if it's ignored? Assuming you keep it topped up it will keep going but eventually get to the point it's burning it do badly it's costly to keep it topped up and it will fail emissions?
I would imagine the cats will become shot and it probably wouldn't do the CCV system much good

HUD has the switch here:

Basic aircon vs proper dual zone climate (basic at the top, climate at the bottom)

Details here: https://www.meeknet.co.uk/e64/tis_routines/E64%20S...

The full climate also has condensation and solar sensors.
That's useful info. After you said it had HUD I noticed the projection rectangle under the windscreen. I'd love a car with that fitted. Seems like a good safety feature.

Also ref the blue smoke/oil burn. What happens if it's ignored? Assuming you keep it topped up it will keep going but eventually get to the point it's burning it do badly it's costly to keep it topped up and it will fail emmisions?
It's something you really wouldn't want to ignore.

Will cause all sorts of emissions issues, kill the cats and CCV system eventually etc...

As said, you'd want to get that at £3k to do the oil seals and CCV for peace of mind. Any more, IMO, and it doesn't compute

As an aside on the Friday thing, there were around 100 posts on Fri, with 8 or 9 pictures of women posted. (And the toe-curling one of the louche mikedknight, which obviously appalled everybody.) For me personally, 2 or 3 of those chick-pics felt unseemly and out of touch with the usual self-policing, but I ignored them and moved on.

Friday whimsy has been a thing for some time, but posting chicks is a little phase which will undoubtedly find its natural end sooner or later. For those who get offended by it, just ignore. This remains the best thread on the site and us falling out over a stocking top or a G-string-related bodywork smear is a bit tragic.

For those that are genuinely offended* you can always report the post and the Mods will remove it.

* But we'll check whether you have a diesel in your garage, in which case your views really don't matter.

They're running the event, they can choose how they want people to behave, I just think that complaining and feeling put out by such a small thing seems absurd.

It's funny how it becomes about sticking it to the man and resisting a government exerting unnecessary control when it's such inconsequential stuff that makes little difference either way. Vive la révolution.
I am going to 2 car shows over the late May bank holiday. Both outdoors and neither require a mask to be worn outside.

Wearing a mask It’s not inconsequential to some people. It’s a miserable experience for me and I go to things to enjoy myself not to feel miserable.

It gets worse and worse until you can't pull away without leaving a James Bond level smokescreen. The actual amount consumed isn't that bad though, nothing like 1 litre per 1000 miles or whatever the daft spec is. I never failed emissions as I didn't have any at idle and 2000rpm clears it after a short time. I presume you could eventually nacker your cats and o2 sensors.

Yes, you can just about see it here:

Both my 630i and the wife's X5 have the HUD. It's a nice feature, means you don't have to strain your eyes looking down at the dials like a pleb. smile

I'm guilty of posting (BMW related) TGIF photos but try to keep them more fashion/arty than Max Power.

Thanks for the replies about the BMW oil consumption. I've never had a car that consumed oil so was curious as to the consequences.
As someone mentioned if you bought it cheap enough then you'd have the funds to get it fixed and be good until it goes again which hopefully would be another 100k miles.

HUD, radar cruise and night vision are options I'd like to try sometime. My favourite option I think is keyless entry and start. Heated seats (if leather) obviously are minimum requirement for me.

What's up with the boot shut line near the fuel filler cap?
It is the power close boot, my S600 had the same and would sometimes close perfectly and sometimes a bit like the one shown. Could not see an easy way to adjust or fix in STAR.

Challenging advert and needs some work, but a Rover 800 Vitesse at £1500 is a very 2018 price.

Boggo one in gold with velour is probably a dog but £800.

The voice of reason and I couldn't agree more. Truthfully, it was easy to ignore and there was no harm done, no arguments or fallings out and - on my behalf, for certain - absolutely no thoughts whatsoever about complaining or reporting posts.

A few folks have piped-up lately that it was starting to get a bit 'uncomfortable' shall we say and I'm kinda of the same view.
It's just an opinion and nothing more.

Besides, I've got a diesel and it's only got three cylinders so I'm pissing in the wind if I'm hoping to get anyone to agree with me.

I Think we've had this 605 SRTi which only has a two litre engine, but that's actually OK in thesw. I think it's had a price drop, £2295.

There is a 3.0 on AT but at six grand they can fexk off.

For my part, I welcome the mod and the mod loves the wit of LTA.

The Vitesse looks great but Gary, son of Gerald, has fked the interior right up with his green airfix paint and red carpets from a different spec car.

The engine in that gold 820 is a dog, but those velour seats are incredibly comfortable and look every bit the pensioners palace with the red piping.

I'm more uncomfortable with the hint of racism that occasionally appears on here than some tacky flesh shots on a Friday which I find easier to ignore.

In an ideal world I wouldn't see either but people are people.

I try to just post barges and enjoy this thread - the best thread of this there interwebs, rather than pontificate on politics or pictures.

We're a friendly and welcoming place, and I think very considerate of one another.

So perhaps instead of a rule one way or another, maybe we can all just put in place another layer when we post just to ensure those that are more sensitive or have over-zealous bosses looking over their screens would be fine with the post.

No problem for CDG as I think he's the guy who patrols the boss's screen rofl

As a sporadic poster, I accept that I miss pages of posts here and there.
The thread moves fast.

I can honestly say I've never detected even the tiniest hint of racism in here, ever, ever, ever.
Not once.

Talk about "drinking from the black pump" surely doesn't count?

I agree with this, but none of us can read every post. The report function is very effective in my experience and would encourage use of it if and when any racism is seen. I have met many people in person from this thread, and I do not think for a moment any would stand for racism in any form.
