The closest thing I've seen that could be seen as a racist comment is possibly JRG
In what way is JRG racist?
Someone else said it wasn't racist but religionist (is that a word) I know we have BRG but that is an official racing colour, So who knows I've can't ever remember anything racist on this forum TBH
I had no idea if "religionist" was a word but I've never ever thought "JRG" was racist

Now "BRG" - that's got to be OK as it covers England, Wales, Scotland and A few other bits - if it was ERG (English Racing Green) I think you could say it was racist

Happy to be corrected and remove "JRG" from my car dictionary biggrin
JRG is a discriminatory term, discriminating by perception, implying that there is some link between a physical metal of value and a religion. Why would you do that? Why is it necessary? Would you make that statement to a person sitting across the table from you who told you they were Jewish?

It isn't a joke, or funny, or clever, it's something that in many a workplace would earn you a meeting with HR and possibly severe sanctions, and in an open public place could result in a claim being made against you personally.

This has been law for 11 years. ELEVEN fkING YEARS. You can dismiss this as wokery all you like. It's the law, and some of you are in dire need of a training update if you haven't got it after this long.

Now stop discriminating against anything other than diesels, which are not protected by law.

Poor dieselists (I am making words up now) they're not even allowed here now, I'd best never mention the 300d again, Macron is spot on

I really like the XK8, but what's the chance of finding a decent one within thread budget?
It's possible but you might have to go and look at a lot of cars. First place I would look is the JEC classifieds. My experience is that enthusiast owned cars tend to be better looked after.

I regularly check XK X150 prices but they seem, to me, to sit stubbornly high. Good if you're an owner.
It does look like they're going to bottom-out at a distinctly higher price than both XJS and X100. I don't know if that's more a function of them being a more successful/attractive design, or because fewer were sold new?

Either way, until they're not welcome in lots of places where people want to drive them, it looks like they'll remain a safe place for your money for the time-being.

As XJS continue to die in large numbers, the values of the survivors are looking promising, and the same to a lesser degree for the X100. And whereas XJS was sold for 21 years, X100 only had about 10, and X150 had about 10 as well?

I agree. Especially about diesels.

Many of the old mills round West Yorkshire have been redeveloped. (Or set on fire).
Magnificent old buildings. They really didn't mess about when they built them.
Certainly the case around here (Holmfirth), lots of nice old mill buildings converted to houses. Also the textile industry is not totally gone either; I live a short walk from the Bower and Roebuck HQ in New Mill, although sadly the buildings there are modern ugly things (70s build maybe).

Also, reservoirs. Lots of reservoirs around here which are very impressive, solid looking victorian things.

Sadly, relatively few barges though, aside from a slightly ropey looking CLS and W211 just around the corner from me.

But speaking of slightly ropey looking; mid-thread X308 XJR:

I'm fairly sure that's been up before, marked as sold and now relisted.

If anyone wants a look over it, I'm an easy 20 mins away. I'm actually half-tempted to go have a look at it anyway.

The Mrs has declared that she wants one next year, I'm hoping they don't go too crazy before then!

I bought a chain of estate agencies out of receivership because it was unable to pay the fine and associated legal bills when they were ordered to pay the claimant's costs for staff making what they thought were jokes discriminating against an employee's religion.

Said employee now owns 40% of the remaining group, I have no idea what the perps are now doing.

And I never joke about diesel.

I am not one of those blessed few who can currently afford so majestic a vehicle as a barge, and my current means of conveyance is, to put it generously, humble. Are non-barges allowed at loser conferences?

Barging is a state of mind, all are welcome. We’ve had people turn up in an Aston Martin, Alfa juniors, Ian turned up to one on a motorbike even (not forgetting Kevin). Whisper it quietly, but some are rumoured to have attended in a stinky diesel. A barge meet is a good place to show up and talk st about cars for a few hours while looking at metal that you might not see on a regular basis. It’s not what you drive, it’s about the love of automotive stuff in general.

Don't think we need the scantily clad crumpet either, although R129's tulip lady could have been classed as an honourable exception.
