Nice xjr and lots of the roads and scenery round Holmfirth is fantastic, We should arrange a barge meet around the area at some point
I am not one of those blessed few who can currently afford so majestic a vehicle as a barge, and my current means of conveyance is, to put it generously, humble. Are non-barges allowed at loser conferences?
After turning up on a motorbike to one I would say yes smile
ooooohh

that's suit me, I dont have a barge but holmfirth is only half an hour away

I'd suggest the Carding shed would be a great place to host such a meeting

Take a run over green moor and back over the woodhead or for a less congested bimble, go down to penistone and follow mortimer road down to ladybower.

I've always hated the Halfords looking cup-holder.

Otherwise, I like 'em.

[biased] Nice colour cool [/biased]. Stratus Grey when clean and polished up looks fantastic.

E63 Specs are generally a lot better than E60 specs as much more stuff standard. Nothing out of the ordinary on it that I can see. Has the Dakota leather (Pearl was an upgrade), heated seats, Pro Nav and the folding mirrors (v helpful if you have a narrow garage). Shame no Pro HiFi (which does sound excellent), HUD or Panoramic Roof (fantastic until it causes problems). Does have the (afterthought) cupholder option though.

MOT history is very clean.

Barging is a state of mind, all are welcome. We’ve had people turn up in an Aston Martin, Alfa juniors, Ian turned up to one on a motorbike even (not forgetting Kevin). Whisper it quietly, but some are rumoured to have attended in a stinky diesel. A barge meet is a good place to show up and talk st about cars for a few hours while looking at metal that you might not see on a regular basis. It’s not what you drive, it’s about the love of automotive stuff in general.
Thanks Prinny I've done both these things and romour has it I may even turn up in a motorhub slk to the next lol

I miss mine - sister and BIL are ‘borrowing’ it for an extended period while he’s not working, rather than get another lease. (And with me wfh, it’s not like I am doing enough mileage to justify one car, let alone 3). I miss 8k rpm. But the best thing is that they’re both on lotsa points, even before getting the car from me. I imagine it’s the most economically driven M6 in the country right now...

Looking at the ad made me laugh - this vehicle comes with ‘V5 registration document’ - well that’s me sold!

£70 admin fee can FRO though.

If the pics are to be believed, it’s been there since mid-Feb, I know the market for them is small, but that either suggests it’s not as good as it photos, or it’s genuinely over-priced still.

I'm fairly sure that's been up before, marked as sold and now relisted.

If anyone wants a look over it, I'm an easy 20 mins away. I'm actually half-tempted to go have a look at it anyway.
I posted that up a couple of months back. Think it might of had a small price drop since then.

I wish I could join yas as that place has me salivating between talk of fries and the gorgeous cars. I think it's good that the Northern posse are considered their own meet. Especially with the names of the roads mentioned abovebiggrin

Loving the mill talk too, glad I started it. Plenty of my ancestors moved to Belfast from rural to earn a few pennies in the linen mills and shipyards.
Ref real Barges if I win big time on the lotto I'd consider funding the regeneration of the canals here as we have oldest canal in UK, Newry canal. I follow the volunteers fixing it up.

I grew up near the Lagan navigation it's full of trees now. Hopefully will get backing to regenerate it.

The Carding shed is barely over a mile from me as the crow flies but I had never heard of it until you posted it.

Mortimer Road is a lovely drive.

Ah, then perhaps with some astute haggling the price could be negotiated downward a bit more.

I was possibly unfair in my 'ropey' assessment previously, on second look it actually appears to be quite tidy (steering wheel besides)

The V8 woofle and super charger whine would sound great reflecting off the hills and valleys around the Woodhead pass

cool

If anyone who might attend a West Yorkshire meet up is also a mountain biker, you can pay your respects to JMC, whose memorial is next to the spot on the Woodhead pass where his fatal motorbike accident happened.

It simply pulls out though; that's what I and a lot of folk would do; they do look stupid!

If it's a Sunday barge meet I'm up for a drive there, in either a V12 barge or a Japanese roller skate depending on the weather. Duxford was a great day out last year, and a very welcome break from the grinding tedium of COVID.

That looks like a cracking place for another barge meet at some point - count me in.

Must admit I'd be tempted by the bike if the weather was nice mind, join Ian in the bike-to-a-car-meet club. biggrin

I'd be the same, cant be turning up to a barge meet in a 1.6 diesel civic.
Most bikers would say Harleys are barges anyway so I'd sort of in rofl

Definitely the bike-barge equivalent.
