OK biggrin

On the other point you make about certain areas of the UK - isn't that the same as saying don't buy a car that's lived on the coast (or Scotland) because they are exposed to sea air and often rotten underneath even when shiney on top - or is that coastist?? wink

I'm sure these things aren't intended to be offensive but it's 2021 and things have moved on, whether we like it or not.

I'll say no more as I've already derailed the thread significantly, and I have no desire to ruin the best thread on PH. Additionally I don't think there's any malice or spite posted here but I felt I should point out my discomfort.

Feel free to call me a lefty-woke-lentil munching so and so if you like smile
Phil, I think these are good points. Things do more on and so should we. Thanks for pointing it out. That's how things change and improve - even for well meaning people.

My XJ seems to be faithfully doing 14.5mpg, which must be the worst claimed power (240bhp) to fuel consumption ratio ever. I think it might need a tune. Or the trip computer isn't working.

Congratulations Ryan-dv8v9. We haven't had a W210 for a while.

Phil, frankly I'm uncomfortable sharing a thread with otherwise right-minded PHers that don't like sunroofs in their vehicles.
I love a sunroof, but there's no denying that I do also appreciate not having one for the headroom benefit. If I was just a touch taller I'd be brushing the headlining of the E39. Lovely to have one open on a summers evening though.

I'm sufficiently vertically challenged that I have never noticed a negative impact from a sunroof. I love the old merc sliding ones - W124 and 190, do they actually eat into headroom at all?

The 430 turned up today.

No forecourt pic, as it turned up on the back of a truck, but the driveway is gravel so hopefully this will do. One of the newest cars I've ever owned and I'm slightly amazed at all the tech and how quiet it is inside.

Lovely. Early ones on Monoblocks look fantastic

0a, before we lie prostrate at the altar of awokedness, what is the difference between Phil's nuanced point and another type of owner being referred to as a 'Gerald' or lauding a gravel drive in tongue in cheek reference.

FFS lads, get a grip of yourselves and accept that there is nothing overt in this thread, nor any instance of dog-whistling. I agree that some of the lady images are more lad mags than thread, which is nice guidance, but self-policing by adopting a holier-than-thou stance, however well-meaning, is overkill on the kindly folk that contribute to this thread. Leave it out.

Also, sunroof haters and diesels.

W00DY (verb): the act of gathering splinters in bottom by sitting on the fence.

Very nice Ryan. Are the headlights a little clouded? If so, the car would shed the years with a polish (and lacquer).

Is it safe to mention pan roofs ?

Only if "Pan Pan Pan" isn't on the thread he gets a little uppity about his name being used

I like sun roofs - I like them better with glass and a blind but a steel one is fine too

What I don't like is the lowered internal roof line and the eventual leaks when the seals get old and tired

I did love the glass sunroof on my 205 - it was a sliding roof mounted and had a vacuum deflation system for the seal - no head room issues and never had any leak issues - however I bet some leaked as they got older

As someone who lives right on the coast I have to say this offended me greatly!

Never buy a car from me though.

They sure are! Actually, I was looking at this photo on the computer as I posted it and immediately went and ordered a headlight polishing kit. TBH the Land Cruiser could do with some clearer headlights too.

I like the glass-with-blind one in the Lexus. But honestly, in 3 years, I think I've opened it a handful of times.

Even so, it has had considerably more use than the uber-wantable-but-utterly-pointless rear sun blind.

It's for when you cut someone up and they are gesturing at you. One of the best bits of kit on a barge!
