I hate sunroofs.

whole day disassembling the bloody rooflining on a discovery 2 (add that to my previous rant on D2s) for a sodding broken plastic flange.
It would appear the landrover designers thought it would be a jolly good wheeze to put the rooflining on first, with the door upright trim overlapping it, then the door cards and dash overlapping that. everything was a nightmare of broken trim clips and shattering connectors and involved wayyyyyy too much taking apart.

but i do like the glass roof in my wifes citroen cactus.

And the complete lack of lubrication once it soon drys out - always follow up WD40 with an actual lubricant - grease, oil, silicon, whatevs.
Thanks McGee, yeah I did it before and it cured the issue but as you say it dries up eventually. I'll get something else on it sooner than later. It all looks nice and clean though and no drainage issues.

Would have been nice if MB had done something when I and other owners had the inconvenience last summer of taking our cars into them for a sunroof recall. Didn't even get a coffee because of Covid.

I wouldn't have it myself, naturally, but I don't actually mind the colour scheme.
The rest of the tat can get thrown in the bin but the colour scheme is definitely less terrible that i'd have imagined.

You need silicon lube spray, I got several cans from the Lidl aisle of dreams £2.99, clean with WD once working spray liberal amounts of silicon sorted, I found this out sorting out my X350 folding mirrors.

'Largely' maybe. It still appears to have gone up since covid though. I bought a nicer (IMO) colour on 20k lower mileage, with 18" OZ Salina wheel option (which would apparently sell for 1/4 of that car's price) for a chunk less than that, pre-covid.

Thou must post a Friday photo on Friday as penance. Bonus points for the car featured being JRG.

My XJ seems to be faithfully doing 14.5mpg, which must be the worst claimed power (240bhp) to fuel consumption ratio ever. I think it might need a tune. Or the trip computer isn't working.

Definitely sounds broken, still looks good doing it mind!

One of the most handsome saloons ever imho
My 1st guess would be checking for leaks on the vacuum pipes that will have gone brittle and split, you might even hear them yourself & for a quick fix a pen knife to cut the ends and a refit might suffice.

My thread purchase SV8 was down to 11-13mpg improved by about 5mpg on fixing my split vacuum pipes.

Did they drive that through the chrome embellishment aisle of Halfords or did someone take the time and effort to do that.

Moi? Pity it's boring silver, but who can resist a car like that with blurb like this:

Seller possibly named Wordsworth said:

Lexus SC-430 4.3 V8 best looking hardtop convertible ever made. The best vehicle made and even though this lady is 18 years old shes still a head-turner. ... the custom exhaust alone makes this Lexus SC430 purr like a kitten and the sound is addictive.

Some copy-writing lessons there for our man JOB.
I have heard one with a stainless exhaust and it was really rather good smile
I'm glad you said that, one drove past me last week and I turned to expect to see an American muscle car. I'm assuming it had an exhaust mod as it was a lovely note.
Ok, I,m going to admit it to all. These are starting to look like an attractive proposition for me. Especially if they sound like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Y53MtnS_w

Am I wrong to think of these as a more reliable, cheaper, (but slightly uglier, depending on colour/wheel choice) R230 SL500?

Genuine question: What are they like to drive? Are they soft and wafty or a bit too harsh? I find a lot of modern cars are set up to have the suspension on the sporty (hard) side but are actually far too heavy to be driven in a sporty manner.

Do they all smoke like that or is it just that one burning oil?

They cruise, they don't sport, and are as reliable as a very reliable thing. Zero back seat room if that's important, sadly frown

There's a guy just outside Gloc. who is something of a specialist and runs a Forum. Many (most?) sales pass through his hand, and the provenance of many cars is known through a number of owners' hands.

Very very colour and wheel dependant, but he will also sell you wheel trims that make the dinner plates into 5-spokes, and also a stainless exhaust at sensible money.

(and darned if I can remember his name/forum, but he's easily found)

I think that one's just a shed in the hands of a muppet - obviously weepy valve stem seals, ragging from cold and over-fuelling.
