I am left conflicted by that picture. On the one hand, it looks like the most boring car meet imaginable. On the other, and perhaps it's one for those 'that know', it's as cool as fk.

I do like those old Rovers, there's a red one at Cromford that's a daily and lives outside.

I'm not sure, but I think that might be Hugh, lives in London. There are about thirteen GZG50 models in the UK now, I know of most of them though we've never met. Hoping to get a meet organised this summer.
Looks like the kind of car meet Kim Jong-un would frequent

If we're doing old British marques, an excellent program aired on BBC4 last night: Classic British Cars: Made in Coventry.

That's exactly what I was talking about, I love that interior buuuuut it appears the photos have had some filter applied to enhance the colour - I suspect in real life they are not as impressive. And it's on collecting cars - their suggestion that it should prove to be reliable is laughable, as they have no idea - it's been 10 years since "the owner thinks" the cambelt was changed and it's a very old, high power Volvo with an autobox.

Tempted but you'd have to go in with your eye wide open on a Jap import with unknown history.
My feelings on CC are that they have some lovely looking cars on their site but I'd not but anything of them without being able to check it out properly...as there is seemingly no come back to them. They must take their cut and their off.

I think if you're selling, then they are great for you.

The 520i touring they're selling is currently sat at £650 with the auction finishing on Friday....
I think you have to be very careful buying from any auction. The vehicle (or whatever chattel is on offer) is not sold by the auction house but by some undisclosed principal for whom the auction house is but an agent. Rarely is there any comeback against the auction house absent a glaring misdescription. I posted a couple of weeks ago about looking after two cars sold through a very respectable auction house. One of them (not the Ferrari) is an absolute disgrace, shocking beyond shocking. While the auction house is being very charming about matters, underneath all that charm is a shrug of the shoulders: not our problem, guv.

Wronger than wrong could possibly be. It is being fixed, however. To give you a flavour of how wrong: there was no oil in the differential (as in, somebody forgot to put it in when the car was restored); there are (big) leaks of petrol, engine oil, gearbox oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid. Fixing it all will cost less than one quarter what it costs to service the (immaculate) Ferrari.

According to the CC listing, the seller is Motordrome of Henley. These guys, I'm guessing: https://moto-drome.com/about-motodrome/current-sto...

He sells lots of interesting stuff through eBay - especially Defenders, but also the occasional e24, which means I've spent more than my fair share of time ogling his wares. He comes across as an honest seller, with years of good reputation, helpful road-test and walkaround inspection videos (long before they became all the rage), and generally gives the impression of being 'one of us'.

Which (to my eyes at least) only makes the decision to punt this through CC look more suspicious.

Oh dear, I seem to remember you said it was from a recognised specialist as well? Bad ones do creep out it seems.

Still pining for a 550/575?

The Jag is a total botch job. I don't think the specialist is a specialist at all but a home-garage bound fantasist who rushed it out before it was finished.

Yes, still pining for a 550/575. Although the costs of a full but essentially unremarkable service are eye watering. Five figures of eye watering. I really enjoyed driving it for a few days before pressing it into the care of the main agent. I took my boy to school in it twice, on each occasion greeted by the not unfetching (and blonde) headmistress with more the usual warmth. I parked it across two spaces in my office and attracted a truly offensive note from a colleague which I was then able to publish in our Teams group, thus letting everyone know who brought the Ferrari to work. And best of all I overtook that woman on our urban motorway, drawing alongside, tooting the horn, dropping from fourth to second, almost losing control as I hoofed into the distance. (I like to think that she was impressed and rued the day she dispensed with my services, but I dare say the truth is she thought, "What did I ever see in that prick?")

This is what a single-sex education does to a man.

There's a PHer who paid a big chunk of cash for another Japanese R on CC recently so perhaps he's testing the water to see if it's a more lucrative platform. I'd definitely be tempted if selling the right kind of car.
