Whitewalls look great on a scabby old Shadow, but you can only have one, like the wheeltrims and the bumpers.

The top end of the car market now seems to cater exclusively to the sort of people who buy vehicles simply because the price tag is exorbitant.

Imagine seeing someone who'd spent 20 mil on a car perched on one of these dopey little stools.

The Scimitar would easily take some aftermarket alloys then you'd have a huge choice of tyres.
Most require spacers and I don't like spacers. Default option is 15X6 Minilites as they at least look correct for the period. In theory anything that will fit a Datsun 240z will fit a Scimitar.

Stick it on my drive then, and I'll get it to you as soon as we are able.

How about a full werthers exterior and interior combo, with a sprinkling of Geraldness and within negotiation reach of upper thread (bonkers pricing).

Nevertheless, a 4.3L V8 and no declared rust spots. MOT is okay-ish, too.

Has the driver's door had some action? Otherwise looks really clean and would be wafttastic par excellence

Here's a nice eulogy to one.
One you remove those hideous headlamp trims, I suspect that would be a very fine car, as the author of the eulogy suggests. other irritatingly I have need of a car, all of mine being broken, and a 1,000mile journey being on the cards for tomorrow. Shame it's in Sussex and I am not!
If you were closer you could have taken the 300d for a dam good thrashing

Kind of you, but I am never buying another 'foreign' (for here) car as long as I've got a hole in my arse. Today's experience with Customs nearly turned me homicidal.

From here, in case anyone is remotely interested:

Oh the naive optimism of a few weeks ago; oh the simplicity. Of course all was not well.

I was left waiting for 15 minutes by a dolt of a woman with a serious attitude problem, only for her to come back with a 'computer says no' smirk and direct me to a different office, in a very different part of the city. The supervisor that came with her merely shrugged with barely concealed disdain as I explained yet again that I had provided the paperwork requested by their colleague just a couple of weeks ago. Customer service is sometimes an alien concept here, and I was left in a state of incandescent fury against Brexit and all it stands for, as well as the job-for-life mentality of an unimaginative bureaucrat. So, back to square one, but only once I've calmed down a bit and am no longer considering setting light to the fking thing.

On the positive side, the lady in the petrol station was very complimentary about the car, and I think there was something approaching a cheeky twinkle in her eye as she looked at the screen showing my car. Nice to know I can still charm some women, even if she was in her late 60s. If only the lumpen aparatchik had been similarly wowed.

All in all, a bit of a waste of a day off, although I did get my grass cut; silver linings and all that.

Ooh that’s not good. Where do you have need of being? (If you can somehow get to Manchester, you can take the 7 from there, or if you are London bound, if you can get out to Chelmsford, you could pinch the 6 ). I’m stuck doing stuff this evening otherwise I’d run one up Norf for you.

Mind you, considering the price of last minute train-fares, or the abject misery that would be an airport, then followed up with the fuel economy of Bavaria’s finest (1000 miles at R129 speed would likely be 4x M6 fill-ups, or 3x 760 fillups), you might well be better off ringing Avis (other car hire firms are available). laugh
That is a seriously kind offer. We are in Northumberland and heading to Jersey. Dear brother has offered his G63 AMG (W463A). Or do I just risk it in our G? The check engine light is on and it needs a part in the Ad Blue system. Baister is concerned that it will soon start the mileage count down (i.e. will not start in x miles, starting at 500). The w124 needs some serious welding. The SL is too small for four and needs a suspension arm. The 190... well, maybe e could take the 190.

I’d love to regale you with a similar tale of Cypriot bureaucrat inefficiency, but can’t. Long story short, Dad’s partner got medically banned from driving at the start of May for being a fking liability on the roads afflicted with cataracts. Licence revoked.

Off to the Dr. Booked in for later that week. Operation done on eye #1.

10 days later, back in for eye #2.

Monday, back to Dr. Check over & approval. Form printed out & signed off.

Head to Ministry of Transport office. Out 45min later with new licence. (Not allowed to drive home though, as they’re in dad’s car & he’s a bit precious!)

Now that it’s all out & public, she’s admitted to struggling for a while. Things like photos coming out blurry should have been a bit of a giveaway, but as it’s so gradual, you get used to it, I suppose. She mentioned that she can now actually tell what speed she’s doing! eek

Moral of the story? I need to go get a eye test too, a kerb jumped out at me today. Grr.

(yes I know it needs a clean too, but the weather here has been crap, for weeks).

Hmm - depending on the timing (i’ve nothing I specifically have to get done tomorrow by way of work) I could meet you @ Ferrybridge services to swap the 190 over? I’ll even leave you blazing saddles in the dvd player.

Not a bad markup, as usual.

I’m daft enough to lend you a car if you can get to Swadlincote.

I am also quite smitten with that Gamma coupe. What great value! Probably fast enough for modern conditions with 140PS in a light body.
