There are of course highly-priced exotic alternatives to a GT3 911. Very few at or below its price point though.

GT3 looks great, is beautifully put together, is reliable enough and comfortable enough for every use, and has a life-affirming n/a engine.

The engine bit is crucial. The GT3's engine is an event. Any alternative must have a non-turbo, razor-sharp engine that you day dream about, or it's not an alternative.

Going cheaper, you're really looking at an old Integra Type R, or an S2000. Or a Lexus LFA. Or a sportsbike.

Their second attempt at the Evora was so much better. the first one looked odd from any angle. This one, great from every angle.
Lotus do not have the parts bin and suppliers VW have, so no wonder the Porschar looks good.
Either would be fine just to be different. Not the M4 in pearl white though. Any other colour than pearl or grey.

I'd add Noble, Sagaris? AMG GT maybe?

When I glanced at it I thought that 458 looks a bit odd..

Could you get a sag or an amg gt for the budget being discussed here (£50-60k). The noble yes. I looked at one a few years back an M12 and if I had the space for one I would have had it and a daily snotter unfortunately I didn’t have the space.

You'd struggle to get a Sag I think, but you can get an AMG GT at that budget(I'm currently considering one).

Well I never. A quick check on AT shows a few AMG GT for sale I honestly thought they were still an £80k+ car. They look a real bargain at that price.

yes

All being well I do hope to get one a little bit later in the year. They are still depreciating quite heavily though which does worry me a bit. Although almost all cars depreciate to be fair though(well all the ones I buy do! biggrin).

I'm sure the Beamer is a great car, but it's still a Beamer. Surely if it's something instead of a Porsche it needs that certain "je ne sais quoi" that bigger-selling brands can never have? I've always loved the Evora. It looks special, and, I'm sure, drives special. But that colour combo? I'll pass on that.

As others have said, I'd have thought there must be a few other cars that met the brief.

I like Evoras, but I'm surprised about all the positive comments on the looks. I would have said that looks are the weakest part of the Evora package and the main thing that puts me off owning one. It looks a bit too much like a child's toy, which I suppose is fine if you are only buying it to hoon around in. But I would have thought most buyers want something that also covers the grown up duties and doesn't embarrass the wife.

Well, you could get a Sag for that when last I checked, but it might have gone off budget now.

I'm really not a fast Mercedes fan, the only saloon that does it for me is the 'black', but there's something about that AMG GT. What a coupe! I remember reading a big group test, more than likely an ECoTY where the journos all fell in love with it and as I read so did I. I've always had a soft spot for a sumptuous cabin in a fast car and that engine is a gem.

I have a rule that my daily must be able to achieve 30mpg without having to tread on eggshells. Here's a 4.0 twin turbo V8 that might actually scrape into that category. What a car!

I'd take the Lotus, looks exotic and would rival the 911 as a driving experience. 😎

That Lotus looks ace. The only thing to do would be do shove a GTE front onto it.

I always found Evora's to be great looking cars personally, but they often don't photograph well. Here was my third, miss this car a fair bit. Was considering buying a fourth but waiting to see what the deal is with the new model.

Can't say I ever thought it was an embarrassing toy!

Same! I remember before it was launched and it really grabbed my attention, plus I was interested in what Mercedes could do with it being a 911 rival. They smashed it out of the park engine/looks/ interior design wise I agree.

I've seen a couple of them out on the road and they just look so good to my eyes. Me and my Mrs also had a good look around one in the local Mercedes dealership. We are big fans of it for sure. smile

Totally agree, some angles they don’t photograph too well but when you see them they are stunning. Although I think the black pack really helps with the mini supercar looks. Have had nothing but compliments and thumbs up with mine. Add the fact they drive so well, sound so damn good, are pretty cheap to run, you can get the kids in the back, it makes a really fantastic all round package.

Can't help thinking the Evora Sport 410 is a more fitting alternative at £60k.

Loads of beautifully made carbon, lighter, carbon seats...

That or this one, depending whether you like black or bling. Either look like an excellent option!

If you don't mind modified, this Komotec 460bhp S3 Exige V6 Cup would probably eat most things for breakfast and has that GT3 vibe, what with the aero addendum.

Other things that look interesting:
* An AMG GT-S
* An immaculate-looking Lotus Esprit V8 Sport 350
* An Audi R8 V10
* An Aston Vantage N430
* A tasty looking Noble M400

Left field, not really GT3 substitutes, but interesting nonetheless:
* an Aston Virage (13k under budget, too, with a 6.0L V12)
* Dodge Viper
* Ferrari California
* M3 CSL

Will be looking for an Evora 400 once the range is launched. As the starting prices seem quite close to the 400’s.
Nice Hethel Edition up for sale, but would want IPS.
