It must be just me, but I’ve never liked these wheels. They’re ok on a classic Mini but look out of place on anything else IMO.
I would respectfully disagree.

I don't know whether these are technically Minilites, but they're an option on a Singer 911. I think I prefer them to the Fuchs wheels.

Function over form - using a MiniLite for the rears on an ST

I have a Golf R, and covet a set of VW's Pretoria wheels.

The down side is that they appear to be made of chocolate, and I live in a land of many potholes.

In my younger days I had a set of Wolfrace Slot Mags on a VW Beetle. Spent more time polishing the things to get rid of the surface corrosion than I did driving the car.

Still looked cool, though.

Despite searching Google for a representative image, you're just going to have to use your imaginations.
When I was little, there was an XJ12C parked on my street with Wolf Race Slots, " I'm going to have one of those when I grow up" I told my mates, mind you, I also said that about a bright yellow Avenger Tiger with Rostyles and rear window louvres laugh

Rays Engineering forged alloys on the Nissan 350Z with the ubiquitous set of 3 squares found all over the 350. Does anybody know the origin of the 3 squares and how many sets are on a 350.
No idea of the origin, but apparently they stand for newness, high-quality and Z-ness...

Dunlop's.

Or Turbo vecs ?

Back in the day I had Turbo Vecs on my dark blue Scimitar SE5 which, in my humble opinion, set off the car nicely. You’ll have to visualise though, as unfortunately the car was stolen before I got round to taking a pic.

Had a set on my Mk1 Escort, they looked fabulous.

But not as good as it looked on 15x8 Compomotive CX split rims, after I’d fitted bubble arches.

This wheel design is way overused. After a car is restored the default seems to be to bung on a set of minilites. They're a nice enough wheel but waaay overdone.

Has there ever been a 3 spoke wheel design that wasn't fugly? I don't recall ever seeing one.

Smart 3 spokes? (technically 6 because they're double spokes...

Does anyone remember the Renault 5? Wheels that looked like reel to reel tapes?

I can't find a picture but they stick in my mind as looking quite cool back the eighties

Yeah, I'm bored. Lockdown huh?

Anyway, inspired by the thread about over engineered cars I got thinking about wheels (no idea why).

Nowdays there are literally dozens of different designs for each model of new car to 'personalise' it (yes MINI, you especially), but if you look back even to fairly recent history there are certain designs where that WAS the choice. Anything changed after that was, in reality, pretty bad taste...

Therefore ladies and gents I have come up with a selection of some rather iconic wheel designs. Feel free to add your favourites...

3. compomotive. Just screams rally car
Some good choices there, but the very heavy and ugly Compo is definitely not one of them. Take a look at the real deal, the Speedline Corse of which the Compo is a crude copy.
