Can’t see any potential RR buyers opting for a Sportage either....
They might buy any one of the many large, luxury SUVs available in the USA, all of which have better JD Power Scores:

I got this list from Google to show some examples:
Best Luxury Large SUVs for 2021
2021 Lincoln Navigator.
2021 Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
2021 Cadillac Escalade.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class.
2021 BMW X7.
2021 Land Rover Range Rover.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser.
2021 Infiniti QX80.

Admittedly no Kia Rios on there..... biggrin

And what has that to do with the price of biscuits? Someone else posted saying people would buy Kia/Hyundai over Land Rover products based on the JD Power score and perceived reliability. I contested it. As I doubt very many potential Land Rover owners would seriously give those brands a consideration. And simply cited an example to demonstrate the point.

This, as usual, is developing into handbags at ten paces. I have never had a VW break down on me. Never, ever in my life. So with them I have a 100% reliability record. I don't suppose that the last time I bought one was 1990 comes into it, now does it?

I am a member of several Jaguar forums and yes, I have two Jaguars, have done over 160,000 miles, and had two breakdowns which needed parts overnighted. The youngest is 33 years old and the oldest 60.

But on a more modern note, all the Jaguar forums are rife with complaints about electrical gremlins and why this image is alight on the dashboard. One person had to have a new engine, and it took a court case to get Jaguar to pay for it. Look at the 2.7 diesel engine and the crankshaft problems. And new ones are no longer available either. But the main complaint is the need to buy a new battery about every three years, and to me it smacks of bad engineering. Major Blimp will, no doubt, pop up and say that his car has been reliable for 36 years, but I don't have a modern Jaguar, but do read various forums and reports on recurring problems. They can't all be wrong.

You also contested that I bought Lexus on the strength of the JD Power survey. You were wrong then, too.

It's not just JD Power, either. Which and other researchers found exactly the same: https://www.osv.ltd.uk/land-rover-reliability/

It's not all bad news: for the sales experience (i.e. the moment when $$$$s are being hoovered out of punters' pockets): LR did very well in ... Dubai: https://teamtalk.jaguarlandrover.com/news/land-rov...

This article's a fair PoV: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/02/land-rov...

FWIW, this was about the same time Top Gear tried and failed to destroy the Toyota pickup.
Which they did destroy, there was nothing worth saving or salvaging from it. Interestingly, you hardly see any of that era Hilux on the road these days.

Perhaps not in the UK but in other parts of the world (where you actually need a reliable 4x4) they're very common.
