I bought this a few weeks ago from a gypsy in a supermarket car park. Not enitirely sure why. £300 later I’ve practiced welding. Serviced it, painted it (not that well) and given it to my mother in law who hasn’t driven in 40 years.

It is the exact opposite of our other 4 vehicles but for some reason I really like it.

Went out for a few pints with a mate of mine years ago, and he rang me the next day to ask if I still wanted to split the costs on buying the car. “Ermmm...yeah sure! What is it again?!”

So that’s how I came to own half of a very nice 1990 E30 318iS. Which we then sold a year later. And which I then bought back again myself to use as a daily for a while

After which I went out for more drinks with said mate, and was informed the next day we were buying an E34 M5 3.8

And yes, again more drinks one day a couple of years ago, and we now own an ML55 between the two of us!

Let’s see what happens after lockdown when the pubs open again... biggrin

I had a period of sheds, for no real reason other than I fell out of love with driving for a while.

Escort MK4, 1300, rusty old thing but always started.
Golf MK43 diesel, the slowest one. Lasted a couple of years, very smoky and 200K when I bought it.
V70 D5 best shed ever
Toyota Carina, most reliable odd car

I bought an E46 M3 while drunk off a friend, sat round his dining table p**sed as a fart loving life, he mentioned he was selling his, about an hour later I’d transferred him the money. Never really contemplated having one until that moment. I kept it for about 6 months and tbh I’d definitely have another one.

its a Lotus 22 formula junior fitted with a kawasaki zx9r engine , road registered , I've had her since 2006 , in the process of stripping the engine down and modifying the exhaust its got a quaiffe diff , allowing you to select reverse gear , weighs around 400 kg , the chap i bought her off also had an atom , and said the lotus was faster than his atom ,

trouble is with me being away , ive really not used her in the last two years

That is as mad as a box of frogs - brilliant that it's road registered too

A 1999 bright green Ford KA: An old aussie housemate of mine at uni decide to buy a really dodgy KA off some guys in ASDA car park.

My mate had no UK licence, no insurance and had never driven a manual but still managed to get it home. When we told him how illegal that was, it stayed on the drive till he had to go back to Oz and this mug (me) bought it off him for £270. I planned to do it up and sell as it drove well.

I never got round to it, had no money or time so I scrapped it for £140.

A very unusual choice; a 1974 Ford Fairlane 500. The 5.8l Windsor V8 out of a Mustang in a four door body running on a very similar drive train.
Lots of fun and lots of problems.

Mk3 golf gti - had told myself no more fwd cars after a row of rwd/4x4.

Generally have a rough idea what I’m looking to buy or a project which I won’t count as not to be a daily.

Was quickly in need of a car, onto gumtree for the cheapest car with a mot and it was the golf. Surprisingly good condition considering it was around £300 if I remember. Used for a few months and sold on for a profit after doing basically nothing.

Not sure why they get such bad reviews, was pretty fun to drive without enough power to really break speed limits.

Edit: People who know me/my cars will say that’s normal by my standards but felt the most random to me.
