Iand already stories of people rejecting and getting their money back after a month or so due to reliability issues.
Of course there are.Got any links?
These guys had 2 brand new ones that had to be replaced due to problems that could not be fixed by the dealer. They are now on their 3rd and it seems to be ok.

If JLR wants to compete in the G63 bracket I just don’t think this is unique enough, the “wagen” is so imposing, a massive retro box that sounds as angry as it looks with an s class level interior (in finish anyway), this looks great but it’s too ordinary, at least in this factory spec. In this bracket options and customisation are everything so expect most to get some gaudy adjustments...
I know several people with G classes, as here in Switzerland they're pretty common (last year they sold as many as the FFRR and RRS put together). However not everyone wants to have it more gaudy and my friends who have them typically buy them as they want a reliable family car and have always had one. When there's so many around nobody notices them and some people do get them to 'fit in'.What is undoubtedly true though, and this applies across the Defender range, is that there are far more options to make them a G more personal than LR offers. For example LR's paint option are pretty narrow - there is no dark green for example - whereas for Mercedes the only question is the cost. (My best friend's G is in a lovely dark, almost black metallic green - he uses it to take the dogs out).
We've just gone through the process of speccing a new Defender (p400e) and was holding off until the 2022 announcement before confirming the order. There are LR options which I'd have liked to add like the laser lights that just aren't available on the Defender. I'd have loved to be able to choose the steel wheels and have it in Keswick green. Fortunately here they do let you delete the privacy glass and you can get it in a more discrete trim than in the UK. I think LR are missing an opportunity though it has saved me a bunch of money. Personally I wanted it to be less gaudy, not more.
I'm sure this V8 will sell like hot cakes here - from what I can see from what dealers carry / what's on the nearly-new market - most FFRR are the V8 petrols.

Nobody has ever been able to provide any evidence of all these of people rejecting them.
Meanwhile there are loads of owners all over social media in Europe, US and Aus enjoying their defender for what people claimed it would never be used for.
