RE: 61 years later, an Aston Martin F1 car
Discussion
That really was one hell of a 'show'.
The opening video with a bunch of blokes in white race suits, open face helmets, goggles and what appear to be Geiger counters, wandering around Silverstone - What a brilliant idea!
It really conveyed the excitement and drama of F1. Top marks to the Soho Massive who dreamt that up.
And wasn't it great that the video lasted so long. I was enthralled. Didn't want it to end. I could have watched those guys in the white suits for hours.
Actually, maybe it was hours.
Of course the video had a suitably youth V.O. character reading the script with 'attitude'. That'll convince the kids to follow F1 and Aston Martin. Job done.
There was a moment of sadness though - during the introduction, poor Lawrence appeared to have suffered a stroke whilst reading the autocue - which was unfortunate.
Now for the drivers.
Strut onto the stage like you're on a catwalk - YES!!!!
Then, when you reach the end stop and fold your arms and pose like a superhero because it'll look really cool. Brilliant!!!!
Ok, now we need the USA to like us..... call Tom Brady.
Tom, a respected authority on such things, then tells us their new "ride" looks "fast". Marvellous.
And tell him to film his piece holding his mobile in his hand to give us the full CTE wobble effect.
Man, this is good.
What next?
Back to the stage and the overly coquettish (and not at all annoying) Gemma Eyecandy to introduce a very sweaty and nervous fella in a shiny grey suit, talking about a great British team in a thick German accent. The perfect follow up to Brady and really dials up the pace and excitement.
Shame the autocue kept freezing (that's why he kept stopping right?)
Now this is entertainment!
What a brilliant show.
Bravo The Aston Martin Cozzysomething F1 team.

Let’s hope it’s rather more successful than Aston’s referenced previous foray into F1. I think it was 5 or 6 starts and no points. Not really something to shout about.
If you know the history of the actual F1 team now bearing the Aston Martin name you’d be more clued up than you appear to be.neiler said:
Nice to see Vettle looking enthusiastic as ever at a new team and likely his last chance in F1 after his recent form, maybe because it will be cutting more grass with that front wing and his racing lines than fastest laps. Good luck, look forward to the crash reel
Pathetic comment. It’s Vettel too. As the saying goes - form is temporary. It was clear there was something deeply wrong at Ferrari for Vettel.
Anyway, form is temporary. I’m not convinced Vettel has forgotten how to drive an F1 car and do it well. I’m not his biggest fan but I hope he does well. This season has a good mix of experience and rookie drivers, so I think it will be interesting, even if Hamilton runs away with it again. We had some great races last season with some strong performances from the midfield.

That's a couple of articles now that could be condensed to "F1 teams put new stickers on existing car".
As for Stroll Jnr, there are at least 5 drivers who are a LOT better than him who have no seat because their Dad does not own the team. But since Lance's Dad does own the team, we are stuck with his average (in F1 driver terms) talent. Can't knock it, really - wish I could afford to buy my kids an F1 team.
It has always been thus that you have to bring a lot of cash for an F1 drive, even Senna did, young Stroll is no different . A pole and several podiums (in worse cars that Hulk had, yet Hulk is fawned over) says he’s fully deserving of a number two role in a midfield team.

Very clever Lawrence The "Aston Martin" F1 car is just mirroring their road cars in many ways i.e. last years Mercedes tech hiding inside Aston bodywork.
Not so very clever Lawrence: "But Aston Martin has a British, iconic 108-year history. If I'm not mistaken, about 50 years longer than Ferrari!"Aston Martin. founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford
Ferrari. Founded in 1939 by errrr Him.
I make that 26 years.

Yes. There was. Vettel.Vettel did not go from regularly beating CLC to absolutely nowhere near him overnight without a little help from Ferrari.
I’m no fanboy of Seb but I do think he’s a decent chap, but we’ve all seen Ferrari over the years and I luv e no doubt Seb will be motivated and quick this season
'Vettel, now 33, will likely see his move as an opportunity for a full reset, giving him the chance to utilise his 14 years of F1 experience'
More like 'Vettel, now 33, will likely see his move as the only way to he could get into a Mercedes F1 car'.
Also, if AM want this car to promote and forward their brand, they really should have jacked it up by about 2 feet, stuck some blinging 20" wheels on and four doors!!
