RE: Skoda Roomster Scout | Shed of the Week
Discussion
It’s not very pistonheads, but actually if you owned one you’d use it more often than not, it’s everything you need and nothing you don’t. Probably quite fun to thrash about in and I’d rather this 2nd hand than a new £100k ev that takes me to 60 in 3 seconds, offers me 15 driving modes and then leaves stranded at a service station for 2 hours

If SOTW was bingo, with cliches instead of numbers, you'd nearly have a line there.
PS It's Werthers. According to a friend.
It maybe a cliche, but it does give of some serious pensioner vibes.PS It's Werthers. According to a friend.

If it’s a good car, the image doesn’t matter when it comes to shedding. Amazes me how image conscious this forum can be.
Quite. If you were driving about in it, a useful car that a lot of people regard quite highly, I'm not sure why anybody would care what other people looking on would think about them, if they even notice them.

As a few others have said, I like the Skoda's of this time before they were more fully assimilated into the VAG Borg. Roomster, Yeti, going back a bit, the Felicia Fun pickup with the pull out rear seats. It didn't get to the UK, but in Europe there was a Roomster Monte Carlo model, we did get a Black Edition that's similar but all black.
It's still the same shape, but a few blacked out semi VRS bits do make it less Werther's Original . Everything has potential.

If you wanted a cheap, small, utilitarian (better?) alternative to a Berlingo it could be a good choice. Preferable to carrying bulky items and a family by hand. I'd prefer driving this on a good road to driving a supercar around Manchester city centre.
The MK1 Fabia wasn't bad to drive, and this is apparently better.

Don't get me wrong as a car to chuck stuff into from a practical perspective...and a cheap runarond I do understand the appeal. This is PH though, so in many ways I struggle to see how it even ends up on here(even as a shed) that's all.

It's a common conceit on PH that everybody automatically strives to be seen in the most expensive and prestigious car they can get their hands on in order to maintain their image and social status. Many become quite hostile when it's pointed out not everybody is interested in image or status and not everybody aspires to play the same silly games they do.
First time I heard of these was when my FIL was ordering a new one in 2007. As a bit of a car nerd, my first surprise was that I had not heard of it. Then I saw the pics in the brochure....
...and 4 years later, he live it so much he replaced it with another one! Much nicer, petrol, pano roof.
We had both of him. They were both real growers: I soon saw why the FIL was impressed.
When my other car was a Chimaera, this was fabulous. Whipped the seats outs for bikes, booze cruises, and it even took a kitchen to the skip.
Very, very sad when we sold the last one and bought a Peugeot Partner Teepee (seems I cannot escape the stupid car names).
Also disappointed the the mooted replacement was canned.
Super transport.
