The mk7 fiesta St is easily the pick of that bunch for me.
Though my personal preference would be a well sorted mk2 escort.
£20k for a Capri
Cheap as chips...how about £45K? https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/9343610Though my personal preference would be a well sorted mk2 escort.

As a previous owner of several "Fast Fords" and still a fanboy of the marque I could not bring myself to pay that money for either of those cars above. Crazy money in my opinion
I think anyone who just wanted to drive one would just buy a cheaper one rather than a garage queen Fury?PH tends to focus on the ones for collectors with older cars, just like the recent BRM and Merc 190

Blimey, £20k for a Capri fitted with Nankang tyres. I’m out.
If you just want to drive it you can buy a 2.8i for half that Grew up loving Fast Fords. Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 was my dream car back then.
Sadly I was too young to buy / insure all the nice XR / RS Fords. Only owned one RS Ford, that being the MK1 Focus RS. Nice car, but flawed.
If I ever win the Lottery, I'd buy a mint Escort Cosworth, and Sapphire Cosworth, just for the hell of it. Think Ford have done more than any other manufacturer when it comes to producing everyday car's young men and old lust after. Sadly the MK2 & MK3 Focus RS cars did nothing for me.

I'm really not a fan of fast Fords - or Fords in general really, despite owning one.
But this has been, for me, the absolute best "The best XXX to buy in 2021" that Pistonheads has published.
The list is surprisingly diverse and genuinely has interesting cars for each budget, even though I wouldn't ever want to buy the majority of them.
The GT350 would be my pick of those listed - though for £85,000 would a GT500 be available?
And personally, as shocking as it may be to some people, for 'Sky's the limit' I'd go for the newer GT rather than the original GT40.

I've considered buying a Mondeo ST24 or ST220 before, those quite appeal at the bargain prices they've been at for the last few years.
I've had both a Mondeo ST24 and a Mondeo V6 Ghia X and it is a lovely engine to use. I've also always fancied a ST220 as well. |https://thumbsnap.com/fKdVCyJ9[/url]

Doesn’t that apply to lots of marques/models though?
You can make a recreation of stuff like the 911RS 2.7 for a fraction of the value of a new one and you’ll have 99% of the experience for 99% of the time.
But it won’t have the same value to a collector
Absolutely agree, it’s odd with all performance cars who’s primary purpose is to provide driving entertainment. Ford isn’t the only marque affected by this. However Focus RS500 is taking the biscuit a bit. It’s essentially a matt black wrapped Mk2 RS with an induction kit, remap and exhaust. If Ford hadn’t of done it and rather your local retail park drag racer had, it would be worth less than a standard Mk2, let alone twice the price of a good Mk3.

An even smaller power hike than the Focus one and if they weren’t homologation necessities then people would be thinking ‘What on earth have they done?!’
I remember seeing a guy say as much in the early 90s re a Merc EVO 2 parked up in the town centre
We as car enthusiasts appreciate why they did it in that case.

Your exhausts look sweet too.
Interesting that scanning through the replies to this point, there's not much love nor mention of the Sierra Cosworth in the list.
I'm wondering if its because, dynamically speaking, its beaten hands down by pretty much everything else on the list (bar the Capri) by a long long way.
Its inclusion in the list, seems to rest solely on its massive iconic Fast Ford status, and nothing else. Where as the other cars offer both cache and a good drive.

I personally liked the 3dr Cosworth more back then than I do now for some reason. I sat alongside my dad in one on a test drive back when they were new and I really enjoyed it(he didn't buy it sadly though). Strangely whilst I'm not a big fan of saloons I do have fond memories of driving both of my mates RWD Sapphire Cosworths, they were good fun for sure.
Fast Ford's were cool when you were a young lad in the 80's and 90's. Flight Jacket and DM's. Sorted
My money would be in this though. So cool even today.

Out of all my Ford ownership, this is the one that I still wish I had. Epic machine.

I loved the seats in those - often used to swap with my friend who had one and he got to try my car. Only Ford nuts used to recognise it generally My money would be in this though. So cool even today.

I remember the Ghia and Ghia X models (company director stuff at the time) but don't remember the Injection model at all. Cool but they also seem very dated (because they are).https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-spottedykywt/f...

The RS500 isn't good value at all. The mk2 RS does hold it's value well but you'd have to really want the exclusivity of the matt wrap!
I do love Fords but I agree, I remember looking around the Focus RS500 when it first came out, and I didn't get it then and I still don't now. It has always seemed terribly overpriced to me. It’s front wheel drive... must be just about the most expensive front wheel drive car in the world?!
