RE: 2021 Alpina DS 3 Touring | PH Review

Looks like a no brainer to go for the Alpina given the extra class it appears to exude. That does relate to strong residuals down the line as well. Fly in the ointment is the discounting of the 340d which makes the price differential much greater than shown.
I do wish manufacturers would put realistic prices on their cars rather than inflated ones they can then discount.
Or.... You could buy a car because you like it rather than worry about selling it. I do wish manufacturers would put realistic prices on their cars rather than inflated ones they can then discount.

2010kg? Damn, that's a lot. My G01 X3 M40d is only 85kg heavier. Surely that 2010kg is wrong, right?
Just checked the Alpina website. Unladen kerbweight is 1950kg. Agree that the E92 M3 is now considered a lightweight...https://www.alpina-automobiles.co.uk/en/models/d3-...

Surely the point is that you wouldn't look at a car unless you liked it. When you're comparing cars to carry out a specific role then you take all aspects into account. Dare I say it particularly when you're spending your own cash. When I bought my CLS there was a specific role for a car of that type, a role that was partly framed by the existence of other cars in the household. At the moment there is the possibility of a change to a 4wd Estate, particularly a diesel automatic for personal reasons to suit my lifestyle.
When I looked at s 335d touring which ticked a lot of boxes it felt very basic in terms of trim quality so I passed - Mercedes may have rubbish dealers but they used to make lovely interiors not that long ago.
The Alpina could be the answer to that issue.

these are epic and a smart buy if you look at residuals. They hold easily double the value of comparable BMWs.
Try and look for an F31 D3 touring and see how much they cost.
Even besides that argument, they ride incredibly well and feel so superior.
Admittedly I haven't been in this generation's BMW but the previous I know quite well.

Just save yourself a load of money and get an M340d on massive discount with PCP then bin the runflats and stick some PS4s on it. Then when the warranty is up in 3 years get it mapped.
The cash buying Alpina fanboys will be up in arms but who cares.
Actually, couldn't give a monkey's what you do with your car. Chip away if that's you thing. The cash buying Alpina fanboys will be up in arms but who cares.

Pah, forget the 340D. I would just buy an E46 330D and save £68k as tested. And with the spare cash get a Nomad.
Lol I know where you're coming from. As for this D3 how in the name of f**k can a 3 series estate weigh over 2 tonnes!!! And 56k starting price Sulphur Man said:
Mercedes E400d estate is virtually the same price, much more spacious and practical, and comparable on performance and economy.
Yes, the E class is more spacious and practical, a bit like 5 series, funnily enough. But then a C Class, which competes in the same class as the 3 series, doesn't have a comparable model to a M340d.s0me0ne44 said:
Pointless, more money, for a little bit of styling and 15hp on top.
I would save my money, get the regular 340d and get it remapped.
Alpinas are for people who can't appreciate the subtly and superb engineering. It's a very different market and doesn't need the chips and spoilers brigade.I would save my money, get the regular 340d and get it remapped.
