Having the same issue, in the process of buying our first home and that has rather killed my GR86 purchase ambitions.

I've had two dealers send me this information, and neither made any reference to confidentiality.

They are as keen as anyone to drum up interest, and make sure that they get as much of the planned production run as possible.

Anyway, this is just a car launch. It's not like we're talking about something life-changing. Once the allocation is snapped up, nobody will care any more.

It's a pig, isn't it?

We had a self-imposed budget until MrsC found this place. Is it bad to secretly hope we get outbid?

Does anyone think the GR86 seats would recline far enough to sleep in?
Yes and it also means your head will be in the boot.

I'll run that past MrsC, and see what sort of response it gets... laugh

It’s pretty annoying, you guys moan that the sales guys don’t know the specs, features and offers, but don’t give us any time to learn them.
Can’t win really.
I'm going to see my dealer today, hopefully they have a bit more info than they had yesterday, which was purely what I could see on the website. Toyota certainly haven't helped their dealers with this.

I just need to tell Mrs C and see if my still-growing 6 foot son can fold into the back...... not to mention my daughter and dog!

Well, my excitement was short-lived.

A house came onto the market that seemed too good to be true earlier this week. As houses like this tend to be sponges for cash, a depreciating asset on high-interest finance seems like a very bad idea for the time-being.

Shame.

I probably have found the only flaw in the GR86 proposition. Why do they insist on 215 / 40 / 18 tyres when 225 / 40 /18 is around 40% cheaper?

I am sure there is a good engineering reason like clearance or rim width but still, a little annoying.

Or like I do on bikes, wear them out learning the car, go wider for the next set and appreciate the benefit.

It's a shame, but new cars can take a back seat for a couple of years. Hopefully I'll be able to get back out on track soon enough though!

True although I suspect this would void the Toyota warranty.

It may have already been posted, but from Toyota themselves. Yes it's the US version, but can't be much different.

I'm going to order one on Monday. Manual, Sapphire Blue Pearl (which I think is the UK version of Trueno Blue in the US version).

I'm going for this over a Yaris.

Am I mad? hehe

Financially the Yaris arguably makes more sense because it is unlikely to depreciate, however most of us buy cars to enjoy them and sod the depreciation! So the GR86 is the better choice I reckon, because it will be more fun for more of the time. driving

I can imagine. Its a shame. I think dealers that share this kind of information do it in good faith, they dont have to.

Then some idiot goes and spreads it all over the internet.
