I'm going to order one on Monday. Manual, Sapphire Blue Pearl (which I think is the UK version of Trueno Blue in the US version).

I'm going for this over a Yaris.

Am I mad? hehe
No. I think the 86 will prove to be more fun more of the time. Plus I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to be driving a banzai rally rep.

The 86 is a far more practical car and probably more fun

Financially the Yaris arguably makes more sense because it is unlikely to depreciate, however most of us buy cars to enjoy them and sod the depreciation! So the GR86 is the better choice I reckon, because it will be more fun for more of the time. driving

I actually wouldn't be so sure about that, I think the limited numbers of the 86 will give it strong residuals also. I bet there are more GRYs sold than 86s.

I'd also go for the 86 hands down over the Yaris. It's just much more my sort of vehicle.

I think the limited supply and stellar reputations of both cars makes either a great buy, depreciation-wise.

For me though, they could lose money like a sanctioned oligarch and I'd still want one wink

I think it’ll do well, I note that there are 2020 GT86’s up for £30k on AT and one at £32k!

I can imagine. Its a shame. I think dealers that share this kind of information do it in good faith, they dont have to.

Then some idiot goes and spreads it all over the internet.
It was a dealer who posted the dealer launch pack online using his name. Not hard for Toyota UK to issue a telling off.

Thats just insane given that according to most reviews, the GR is significantly better than the GT, so why on earth would someone buy a 2 year old worse car for more than a brand new much improved model? Even if I didn't want to wait I know I'd regret not waiting.

I'm 49. I don't think buying a Yaris is going to make me the millionaire i've always wanted to be hehe

Here's to RWD, wet roundabouts and track days!
Get on a one or two drift days at Oulton Park, wet, low grip surface so you don't kill tyres. Took my BRZ a couple of weeks ago, even only used a quarter of a tank of juice all day. 139 quid for the whole day. Great cheap fun.

Yep, done. Happy days. First in queue apparently.
Online orders only I’m told? So you might not be at the front or any queue?

When I placed my deposit with the dealer they told me that ordering wasn't open for them yet, so I knew the order wasn't yet in and wasn't guaranteed to get one of the first batch.

Let's hope the website works on Weds as I won't have much patience with it!
