Happy being a hypocrite that scoffs at loud exhausts on hatches and most everything else, however whilst loving the vocal tones my m3 spits out

Well worry about something else because I few loud exhausts aren't going to change anything.
In recent years, noisy exhaust have returned and become commonplace. They are prolific amongst certain motoring sectors. Justifiable complaints will rise leading to restriction imposed by local authorities. Do we really want even lower speed limits, quiet zones and even curfews on ICE cars? scratchchin
It won't happen, so don't worry about it.

When you hear a loud exhaust on a big displacement car you have to give it respect as a petrol head biggrin

I let the teenagers in their 1.4/1.6 Fiesta's have their fun, I just get annoyed at people with C43 AMG's with Armytrix systems driving down the road on and off throttle farting and popping..... on and off, on and off, on and off the whole way down the road, there's a limit before it becomes anti social

If you think racing for 40 minutes at 6 meetings per year, has a significant effect on pollution, then I am sorry for you rolleyes

Where does it mention exhaust volume?

Racing is noisy and harmful to the environment, but people enjoy it so fortunately we are still allowed it

That's not how noise legislation works. It considers the cumulative effect of all sources. Even more reason to ensure noisy exhausts don't exacerbate the problem.

These proposals aren't especially related IMO, and they're actually a good thing. - They work very nicely for the Dutch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woonerf

In a "Living neigbourhood" there should not be priority for motorised traffic; By reducing speeds sufficiently you can force motorised traffic to interact with cyclists and pedestrians far more safely than a simple through road.

Similarly, quiet lane designations offer a similar protection for rural "Routes" - Note that they're reccomended solely for use where traffic is extremely low already, and it does not prevent motorised access, but instead stipulates appropriately low traffic speeds for the prioritisation of pedestrian, cyclist and equestrian use. - A network of these roads would be fantastic, as it allows said users to avoid higher speed, more major through routes (And cuts down on rat running through single track lanes, which should yield a fairly large reduction in accidents)

It won't happen.

But noisy racing cars starting again may cause locals to complain.

How is racing more harmful to the environment than many other pleasure pursuits such as football matches, fishing, flying gliders or foreign holidays? scratchchin

You don't?

If you take into account all racing it is hugely wasteful, both at the event and all the logistics. Actually, I don't give a toss, but it is funny that you can only see one side of any discussion, and obviously as you enjoy your racing it's 'sod anyone' who doesn't? Meanwhile anyone who you deem to have an exhaust outside of your harmonic spectrum is a nuisance. rolleyes

So doesn't affect major routes where you spend half your time stuck in queues behind lorries and the rest looking out for speed cameras? Definitely won't affect anyone's ability to drive for fun then.

Well it's better than worrying about something that's not going to happen.

Why keep prodding the already powerful anti-car brigade with the irritation of unnecessarily loud exhausts? scratchchin

The anti-car brigade also hate racing. Why not just stop participating in such an unnecessary sport? As I have said, a louder exhaust isn't the end of the world and vastly different levels of aggravation can be had depending on how it is used? Same as anything. So why do you keep asking binary questions?
