Mine has just arrived and I wish to complain that I am too busy reading it rather than do any work...

Very impressed - the quality of the photography is very high and the writing draws you in. The articles are nicely balanced and informative with none of the usual clichés. I like the mix of heritage and backstory, nerdy bits -especially interiors, less emphasis on laptimes, drag racing and the like and more on the character of the car and the engineering.

It is also a nice mix of car, a bit of lifestyle, watches and random info.

Looking forward to issue 2.

I’ve subscribed, a couple months ago, and so excited when my copy arrived last Wednesday, I can’t stress highly enough the quality of this publication, as many have already said it’s more like a book than a magazine. The paper quality, the photography, the careful selection of cars, length of the features makes this a magazine one to collect and keep.

I have every copy of the old modern classics, and also used to subscribe to Enzo (both of these were ceased last year) and I’m so pleased someone (Nathan and co) was brave enough and decided to launch Strada.

Don’t mess about getting one copy, what’s £30 we’ve all saved money being locked down get subscribed and enjoy.

I wish them all the best and look forward to many more copies.

Keep up the good work

Chaps, the anticipation is too much - may I ask, is the Vantage buying guide quite detailed, or is it just a few pages? Looking for something a bit more up to date than the pistonheads one. Looking forward to receiving it! Thank you.

I count 16 pages for the guide, it’s excellent.

I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough: it’s clear that Nathan and Doug have put heart and soul into this and it shows on every page.

If you like cars, and you don’t want to see the death of print media in an onslaught of race to the bottom common denominator free stuff (Present company excluded PH wink) then 30 quid is peanuts.

I should add no link to the mag: I just like to see passionate people doing their own thing, delivering a quality product and hopefully succeeding. God knows we need a bit of good news these days.

Fantastic thank you, appreciate it - exactly a lit bit of happiness never hurt anyone.

Subbed for a year.

Nearly two and a half times the price of an current EVO sub (per issue), but I cancelled that in 2010 and haven't read a car magazine since.
Because the age of the motoring enthusiast is almost over. It's only nostalgia and rose tinted glasses for us now.
Modern cars are not drivers cars (apart from the odd often unobtainable eccentric exception).
For many years now boyracers should rightly have been labelled "Classic car enthusiasts".
It upset me for a long time but I've recently started accepting it. Nothing lasts forever. Technological progress has destroyed the concept of enjoying piloting a mechanical four wheeled machine down the road.

I only found out about Modern Classic when the news came that it was finishing up but saw that it was well loved. I assume Nathan was the, or one of, the driving forces behind that?

I'm willing to support an endeavour like this, as I think it's great that there are some out there less pessimistic than me! But hopefully even if this turns out to be the last great (UK based) car magazine then hopefully it will provide some of those memorable articles and moments that the promo article here refers to.

Best of luck Nathan and team! Looking forward to seeing if you can drag my attention away from the internet for a few hours this year!
Sincerely, all the best for this. Hope it is successful.

Edit: All the positive comments in this thread are what sold it to me. Thanks for your contributions all smile

$15 postage to the US per magazine.

Ouch!

I know that's not the magazine authors fault, but the couriers.

I'll have to have a look in Barnes & Noble and see what price they have it for.

Arrived , it’s extremely good value for money in my eyes. Reviews instead of being a 2 pager are extended to 5 pages with commentary from alternative angles (designers etc) I would say it’s like 4 monthly magazines. Great content and great quality. Glad I subscribed to an annual subscription £7.50 per copy is a bargain!

Wishing the creators all the best and I hope people get behind it.

Is it small enough to fit through the letterbox? I'm away from home until Sunday so hopefully the Postie has not left it on the doorstep.

See my picture above. It comes in a proper A4 size folded delivery package. A clean A4 size of white paper either side of the magazine too (to prevent marks from the cardboard). Another nice little touch.

Alright Eeyore, steady on. Your era of motoring enthusiasm might be over/relegated to history, but it doesn't mean everyone's is. Modern cars are not drivers cars? Plenty of them are, but possibly not the ones you're driving* I find modern stuff is definitely heavier, more powerful (to counteract the weight), safer (hence heavier), easier to drive and a lot more fuel efficient that the stuff I pedalled about in 30 years ago. Also, maybe it's a function of getting older that you now drive more sedately than you used to 30 years ago (I know I do), so you've slipped into the age of our parents, driving our Ford Granada, Rover SD1 or (in my case) Fiat 132 equivalents, and thinking the modern hatches aren't a patch on the cars of your youth.
I think a lot of it might be a generational thing.

The * comment above - I've had a look at your PH garage, all reasonable modern with a couple of interesting vehicles in there. I'm really not sure your post above reflects your current cars; I think does the opposite.

There's several 'old fashioned' performance cars still on the market, things like the MX5, GT86, Suzuki Swift, maybe even the Abarth 500 - but they all seem to get labelled as 'too slow'.

Does it have a section at the back where it gives ratings and stats for each reviewed car, like EVO and CAR used to do??

Mine has just arrived - dear God what a thing! Proper coffee table thickness book, and echoing another poster when I showed my Mrs she said 'it smells nice'. Going to be a long work day today knowing I have to wait for this evening to look at properly. Absolute bargain for a tenner even with just a cursory glance so far. Well done Strada team!
