I honestly think you could drive it through a window and no one would notice. Perfect under cover motor.
^^^^^^^^

This, it must be the most inconspicuous motor from the last 20 years or so.

Completely bland and forgettable, there must be a positive side to this somewhere.

But a brilliant article, thank you for that, already made my day.
Positive side is that if kept clean and road legal, the chances of being pulled over would be minimal: No anxiety on the score of ‘Please get out of the car and blow into this, sir’. or’Is this an essential journey?’

What a great selection
Was talking with poster MX6 about his car yesterday so it’s a coincidence to see one on here
They were a quick car when new ( GT86 level of go ) with very good handling
Yeah, the MX6 was a lovely car to drive. The engine was the reason I bought it, great sound.

fugly, that grill and headlights are hideous; another one to mar up with the Scorpio of the mid 90's

They are quite under rated cars in my opinion, certain something nice to own and drive at the budget price level. And along with other 90s coupes have a retro look now which appeals. They respond well to a few mod's as well I think.

Some people just don't get it. Drive what you want where you want when you want, I've owned a few hundred cars now and had a blast using this simple rule of engagement. I couldn't give a damn if others respect me or what I drive.

But this is £1500. One thing if you can get bits cheap but not throwaway money, so you have to buy new parts. Increases the chances of a big bill

Admittedly it looks to be in good condition and low mileage so may still be cheap to run but I can't help thinking a Mondeo for this money would be a far better idea.

I did caveat my statement later by saying in my opinion its a 595 car, but inwould also counter your assertion that a mondeo would be better by wondering what kind of Mondeo you get for 1500 in this covid tax era? Certainly not a 50k mile one in what appears to be good nick, mot history not checked to be fair!! My drive what you want comment was aimed at the poster who suggested we not respect people who drive cars like this as they clearly have no self respect...what a load of nonsense!! Cars are not the be all and end all for many, in fact I would go as far as suggesting genuine enthusiasts are in a minority amongst car owners.

Just watched the FA cup semi final and noticed Hyundai logos on the Chelsea shirts.
Couldn’t help wondering how many Chelsea players even knew what Hyundai was.

It is very low mileage agreed but it's obscure enough that secondhand parts become difficult to source. It is also 18 years old so likely to have mainly been used on short journeys. (Unless kept for high days and holidays).

I think £1000 is more reasonable. I've haven't bought a car post COVID but £1500 can still get something decent.

With regards to Mondeo's there are three of similar mileage for 1500 or less in Autotrader, one has full Ford Main Dealer service history, the brochures, receipt and even a copy of Autocar from the time. That would certainly get my money out of the two.

Goes without saying that a similar condition Mondeo for similar money will be a vastly better car...or even a Vectra.

Having hired a Vectra C on holiday (1.8SRI in 2007 I think) aside from needing a little more power it wasn't a bad car at all. But I'd prefer the Ford which on the short drive I had was rather good.
